Private Leslie Baron was a Canadian radio operator in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada, part of the 4^th Canadian Armoured Division, who appears in Call of Duty 3.

Baron, serving as a radio operator under Lt. Robiechauld, is routinely criticized by Robiechauld, who believes him to be a coward for not engaging the Germans directly. Baron argues that his job is to protect the radio- without it, his unit will have no direct link to higher command. Baron receives orders via the radio saying that they are to take an industrial area nearby, but they soon face a major force of German troops that were in the area already.

After the battle at the industrial yard, Baron is sent to Mount Ormel to replace the Polish radio operator who was killed in action. He attempts to argue against being sent away from his unit, but Lieutenant Robiechauld coldly dismisses him, pointing in the direction the Polish are and saying, "Get going!". While there, Baron calls in artillery strikes on the German tanks as Bohater directs. During an intense firefight with the Germans, Ulan tells him to "Get out of here". Baron refuses, saying "My job is to call artillery strikes". Tired of being accused of cowardice, Baron continues to hold his ground as the Germans advance, despite the Polish soldiers around him arguing that he is running away from bullets, not from his job. Baron is killed by the advancing Germans moments later, but the Polish soldiers take his radio, enabling them to continue calling in badly needed artillery support.

Trivia

• When Baron is killed, his name appears if the player aims his cross-hairs at him, as if he was just injured. If the player moves up the hill and then comes back, Baron's body will have disappeared.
• Later on in "The Mace" when the other Polish soldiers ask what happened to Baron, Ulan replies with "stupidity".
• In the last cutscene of "The Mace", it is strange how Lt. Jean-Guy Robiechauld doesn't ask Major Stan Jackowitz what happened to Pvt. Leslie Baron. He may have been told before talking to "Papa Jack", or he may have been informed after his conversation with Major Jackowitz.
• Although often criticized by Robiechauld for not firing his weapon in combat, you can clearly see Baron shooting his gun as any other soldier does during most scenes of fighting.
• Pvt. Baron's father served with Lt. Jean-Guy Robiechauld in WWI, which is probably why Baron ended up in Robiechaulds squad in WW2. This information is revealed in the Character Bios on the game.
