The Los Vaqueros is an elite unit of the Mexican Special Forces, led by Colonel Alejandro Vargas alongside with his second-in-command, Major Rodolfo Parra. All soldiers of the unit are handpicked for their loyalty to the country and their skills.
The raid on the son of La Araña[]
In 2014, the Los Vaqueros worked with RED Team of the Mexican Special Forces, consisting of Valeria Garza, Jesus "Chuy" Ordaz and other Mexican Special Forces operator to arrest the son of La Araña to put an end to the La Araña Cartel. Unbeknownst to the Los Vaqueros, many operators of the RED team, including Valeria herself, were enforcers for the La Araña Cartel. They turned against their former teammates and escorted the son of La Araña to the mountains before executing him.
Rise of El Sin Nombre[]
Following the death of La Araña's son, the La Araña Cartel collapsed. And a new cartel arose from its ashes, the Las Almas Cartel, led by the elusive El Sin Nombre - "The Nameless". The Las Almas Cartel proved themselves to be more powerful than the previous one, bribing local Mexican Army units to protect them, while also developing the city to convince the population to support them. This prompted the Los Vaqueros to target the and contain the new threat.
Missiles Crisis[]
Hunt for Hassan Zyani[]
On October 29th, 2022, after receiving intel from CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell about Major Hassan Zyani crossing the river in the US-Mexico Border to enter the United States, Alejandro and Rodolfo chased after him, but ultimately failed. Leading to the Hassan being brought back to Mexico.
Raid on a Las Almas Cartel safe house[]
A day latter, on October 30th, 2022, following the failed pursuit of Hassan in the United States. Alejandro tracked the Major's location to a Cartel safe house in the mountain area of Las Almas. The Los Vaqueros, together with Task Force 141 raided the safe house, but failed to find Hassan, as he had been moved by the Cartel beforehand. Then, Mexican Army units under the Cartel's bribe attacked the Los Vaqueros and Task Force 141, prompting Alejandro to tell all of his men to evacuate, as he, Soap, Ghost and Rodriguez used the mountain trails to escape the Mexican Army.
Raid on a Cartel's Compound[]
After receiving support from Phillip Graves' Shadow Company, Alejandro, Soap, and Ghost secured a vehicle, where Graves told them that Hassan's location is to the north of them, which prompts Alejandro to reply: "That's Cartel land, they have a compound there". Then, the trio alongside with Graves then went to the Cartel's compound to capture Hassan and bring him back for interrogation.
With the fire support of Shadow Company's AC-130, the trio managed to capture Hassan, then Alejandro called Rodolfo for extraction, but before they could extract, the Mexican Army convoy caught up with them, prompting Graves to laid down fire support, which destroyed the convoy, clearing the way for extraction. Then Rodolfo arrived, and the trio extracted alongside with Hassan.
As the group was driving through the town of Olmeda, they were ambushed by Cartel's forces, and then attacked by Mexican Army Units, which forced Graves to provide close air support to keep the group safe while also making sure that Hassan is secured. Eventually, after all threat is cleared, the group extracted in a helicopter, call-sign: Hatchet 3-1 on the rooftop of a restaurant.
Capturing El Sin Nombre[]
On November 1st, 2022, Alejandro, Soap, Ghost and Graves gathered outside of El Sin Nombre's penthouse to scope out the area before infiltrating in to capture El Sin Nombre, where all the important figures in Las Almas had gathered together to discuss about them and the event that happened at Olmeda. Soap then volunteered to go in, using intel to exchange for a meet with El Sin Nombre, which prompted Alejandro to do the same as well.
Then, Soap was brought down to the basement via an elevator, where Alejandro, who had disguised himself as a guard, reminded Soap to tell the truth, or that he will die here. Then, as the elevator door opened, Soap encountered Diego Salgado, the Cartel Lieutenant and El Sin Nombre's right-hand man, who then introduced him to Valeria Garza, El Sin Nombre's personal sicaria. who then proceeded to ask several questions to Soap about the assailants who ambushed them and the gunship support who assisted them throughout the operation. Soap replied honestly, giving Valeria all the information that she needed. Which made both her and Diego surprised, with Valeria remarking: "I have a feeling that, El Sin Nombre would be very interested to talk to you".
Soap was then brought to the first floor of the penthouse, where he met up with Alejandro. Eventually, he and Alejandro reached the third floor, revealing that Valeria was El Sin Nombre, which made Alejandro shook his head in disbelief for a moment. Then the duo breached the room and eventually cornered Valeria, who was then arrested by a Shadow Company contractor, and then brought back to the Fuerzas Especiales Headquarters for interrogation.
Assaulting an Oil Rig off the Coast of Mexico[]
After interrogating Valeria, she reveals the second missile's location: It's on an abandoned oil rig off the Coast of Mexico. Alejandro alongside Soap, Ghost and Shadow Company then assaulted the oil rig, where they found the missile container, but not the control itself. Then Ghost spotted the missile control on the bridge of the ship next to the oil rig. Which prompted Soap and Graves to board the ship to support Ghost and Shadow Company contractors there, leaving Alejandro and other Shadow Company contractors to defend the oil rig.
Then, Soap, Ghost and Graves reached the missile control, where they learned that: The missile can't be disarmed anymore. As such, Graves contacted General Shepherd, who authorized him to launch the missile at the oil rig to blow it up alongside with the missile itself, which prompted Ghost to tell Alejandro and the Shadow Company contractors on the oil rig to withdrew, with joint effort of Soap and Graves, they changed the missile's destination to the oil rig and launched it, destroying the rig and the missile in the process.
Capture and Breakout[]
After the disarming the second missile, Alejandro alongside Soap, Ghost and Graves returns to the Fuerzas Especiales Headquarters. Where Graves suddenly stopped them, after a short confrontation, Graves revealed his true motives, betraying Alejandro and Task Force 141. He managed to capture Alejandro, but fails to do so with Soap and Ghost.
On November 3rd 2022, Soap, Ghost and Rodolfo broke into Shadow Company's black site prison and freed Alejandro alongside with the Los Vaqueros soldiers there. As they engaged Shadow Company contractors from the mess hall to the yard, they are stopped by a helicopter firing at them. Until Captain Price fired a missile, destroying the helicopter, allowing Soap, Ghost, and the Los Vaqueros to escape safely.
A fight against their own[]
After confronting General Shepherd about the truth, Captain Price gathered all members of Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros together, where he announces his plan to take back the Fuerzas Especiales Headquarters, secure Valeria and kill Commander Graves. Price then states that this is a fight against their own, and, they are not 141 or Los Vaqueros on this, re-affirming that they are a team: Ghost Team.
The team then fought against Shadow Company contractors in the Fuerzas Especiales Headquarters, from the entrance all the way to the Main Headquarter, where Ghost spotted Graves fleeing, which prompted him alongside with Soap and Rodolfo to chase the Commander. After securing the Headquarters, the attack helicopter which carried Price, was then shot down by Shadow Company contractors, forcing Ghost to come and help the Price.
Soap and Rodolfo then went into the training area, where they learned that Graves brought a tank to fight them. After a while of fighting, Soap managed to destroy the tank with C4s, seemingly killing Graves.
Later Operations[]

Trivia[]
- One of the randomly generated names for the soldiers is "Ramirez" which is likely an intentional reference to James Ramirez from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However Ramirez is a common Mexican surname. Ramirez is also a more common random name for the Pilot called Ghost 2-4 in Ghost Team over soldiers in Ghost Team 2.
