Opening Cutscene[]
An image and flashes of a tree with lightning is seen as it slowly gets closer.
Deimos: You know how this ends. You're like the rest of them. Diaz, Maretti, Hall, Taylor... I flow through your veins, slowly grasping control... But you're... stronger than I anticipated. Your resistance is greater... but this only makes you all the better for my needs. Lotus Towers. What happened there?
F. Player: You think I'll help you? After all of this?
Deimos: What real choice do you have in the matter? You're the pawn in my game.
F. Player: I'm not about to hand over humanity, but I'll humor you. Fine. Let's talk about Lotus Towers.
Level Briefing[]
Encryption# 61-63-68-75. Protocol: Yankee
Final target Taylor has been tracked to Lotus Towers
The weapons and equipment for the uprising have been transported to Egypt, Cairo
Gameplay #1[]
Khalil, Hendricks, and the Player are in a small room within the Lotus Towers, with Khalil looking out a window.
F. Player: Lotus Tower was one of many megastructures in Cairo. Hakim was the self-appointed slumlord of the vertical city.
Khalil walks to the two and Hendricks lashes out to him.
F. Player: That fucker was a maniac...
While the Player speaks, Hakim's men then begin to break down the door, alerting the three.
F. Player: ...an Undead Sympathizer providing Taylor with safe passage from Cairo to Zürich.
The Player and Hendricks get on each sides of the doors.
F. Player: Khalil and the Egyptian Army joined us for the assault. If we got Taylor, we thought we had a chance.
The Player and Hendricks get ready as Hakim's men break down the door with Riot Shields, who surround a "surrendering" Khalil.
F. Player: We took out Hakim's men.
While the Player speaks, Hendricks then punches an NRC member with Khalil and the Player following. The scene switches to the Player in first person as he then kicks one of Hakim's men towards a window.
F. Player: To get to Taylor, we first had to kill the slumlord, then take the Security Station on the 25th Floor. From there, we could locate Taylor and shut down the DEAD Systems Hakim installed, allowing the rest of the Egyptian Army to join the fight.
The Player equips her MR6 as she and the team then leave the room and proceeds down the hallway. Further down the hallway, the civilian militia can be seen struggling with Hakim's men with Riot Shields.
F. Player: So there we were. Humanities last hope. If we failed, we were fucked.
The team navigates down more hallways, with the civilian militia managing to beat up several of Hakim's men. As they move up, the team engage the Zombies. Khalil then opens a door and the Player's DNI optics begins to see crows around the room in black and white, as well as hearing...
Dolos: Do as he asks. Give Deimos what he wants. Trust me. It's all going to be okay.
Dolos: ...Remember the truth.
The Player goes up a small staircase and opens a door. Upon opening, the color of the world is restored. On the other side, General Hakim is giving his speech before turning around and seeing the Player.
F. Player: We made quick work of Hakim.
The Player grabs Hakim's head and smashes his head against a glass panel, killing him. The Player then lifts up Hakim over her. Khalil then throws a Molotov Cocktail below them, killing several guards. Rebels around the towers then begin firing around the towers in joy as the Player hold Hakim like a trophy before throwing him off the balcony and into the abyss of the tower.
F. Player: Khalil spoke to the people - this was their time.
While the Player speaks, Khalil, Hendricks, and herself then jump onto the floor below and begin to head to the security station.
F. Player: Time for the living to take back this city of the dead.
The Player, Hendricks, Khalil, and their allies engage the Zombies. Once the area is clear, everyone moves up, and they saw some civilians killed by the Zombies.
F. Player: Khalil had a mobile shop in place, we could use it to get to the 25th Floor. But first, we had to battle our way around the atrium.
After killing the Zombies, everyone reaches to the middle of the Lotus Towers, where there are some mobile shops across as well as more Zombies. Everyone pushes through the Zombies and the Player, Hendricks, and Khalil reaches and climbs up the roof of a mobile shop. Khalil opens the hatch and head inside the mobile shop to use it.
F. Player: Once we took the Security Station and killed the DEAD System, Cairo Air Support could move in. Maybe we'd have a chance, or at least give the people a chance.
The Player's DNI optics glitches for the second time as she saw some crows on the mobile shop, and sees everything black and white for the second time. The DNI optics returns to normal and the mobile shop stops at the 25th floor.
Dolos: And then we were coming for Taylor. We were coming for you.
The Player and Hendricks leave from the roof with more Zombies for the two while Khalil heads off to support his men. More Zombies and Insanity Elementals arrived, along with civilians trying to run away from them and some being killed after failing to hold off the Undead with riot shields. After two eliminate all the Undead, they move up and the wall exploded ahead of them, with more Zombies and Insanity Elementals emerging. Once the area is cleared, the two move in the breached room, and the Player's DNI optics glitches for the third time as she saw some crows on the air duct, and sees everything black and white for the third time. The DNI optics returns to normal again as Hendricks reaches the air duct.
F. Player: The Security Station had gone under lock down, we found a way through the air ducts ahead. Hendricks opened the path for us. The delay irritated him, but then he wasn't himself.
Hendricks shoots the air duct open, and the two head in the air vents and follow the path.
Deimos: I wonder... how did you not know what happened to him? Did you just not see it? Were you so blinded by blissful ignorance?
The two found another air vent and the Player kicks the vent open as it falls onto and kill a Zombie. The two head down and eliminate all the Zombies in the Security Station.
The Player interface with the console.
F. Player: Kane set the DEADs to overheat.
The Player's DNI optics glitches for the fourth time as she sees snow in the Security Station.
F. Player: Egyptian Army VTOLs would join the fight in a few minutes.
Deimos: And John Taylor?
F. Player: He was in a detention center on the 90th Floor, just waiting. He could have left at any moment, but-
Deimos: I was waiting, waiting for you...
The Player looks up at screen as the scene fades to white.
F. Player: Fuck you.
Cutscene Tree[]
An image and flashes of a tree with lightning is seen as it slowly gets closer.
Deimos: What was it? I must know. What was in your mind that refused to fall in rank like your friends had? Even now, I am without answers.
F. Player: Even the all-powerful and all-knowing are neither all-powerful or all-knowing.
Deimos: Do you know who I am? Can you comprehend what I have seen? Millions of time lines, universes where the Coalescence Disaster never happens, ones where it occurs but instead of opening the Gateway, it gives birth to a new life form. And that's just Earth, let alone the rest of the universe. The very notion that I can achieve such greatness and not control a mortal is insulting.
Gameplay #2[]
The scene returns to the Player, with her DNI optics returning to normal once again, and Hendricks still at the Security Station. Suddenly, the Undead breach the wall on the left side, with the smoke blocking the view. After the two dealt with the Zombies and Insanity Elementals, the Player's DNI optics glitches for the fifth time as she saw some crows, and sees everything black and white for the fourth time when leaving the Security Station. The Egyptian Army VTOLs are seen flying outside the Lotus Tower and the Player's DNI optics returns to normal once again as she reaches outside.
The Egyptian Army repel from the VTOL and Hakim's men fire at them, Hendricks, and the Player. Another Egyptian Army VTOL flies in and provides air support by taking out all of Hakim's men in the room and flies away. More Robots come in the room and are destroyed. Everyone moves up, where more of Hakim's men are engaging the Egyptian Army. Once the area is cleared, the Player and Hendricks move up into another mobile shop.
F. Player: Hendricks was stretched thin. You'd broken him.
The Player's DNI optics glitches for the sixth time as she saw some crows, and sees everything black and white for the fifth time as the mobile shop door closes.
Deimos: I enlightened him. Like I did you. Look at the false memories I created for you.
The Player's DNI optics returns to normal for the sixth time.
Deimos: I tried to remove your near death experience in Ethiopia, I added myself to your memory of Ramses.
The mobile shop suddenly stops as the hatch opens from the roof.
Deimos: I protected you from what haunted you, I wanted to make you understand my motives.
The Player and Hendricks exit the mobile shop and engage with the Zombies and Parasites.
F. Player: Right... this war with your sister, Dolos? What's it say about you that the only way you can defeat her is by enslaving backup?
Deimos: Don't. You. Dare. Mock. Me.
The two move to another room and eliminate more of the Undead as they proceed to the next area. The two see an Egyptian Army Team engaging more Zombies and Insanity Elementals as they help them. As everyone moves up, more of the Undead arrived, as well as a P.A.W.W.S. Once the area is clear, the two move forward into another area, where more of the Undead, as well as some turrets and Hounds, are waiting for them. Once all hostiles are neutralized, the two head to the doors.
Cutscene #1[]
The Player kicks the doors open. She and Hendricks head in and found Taylor, not looking at the two.
F. Player: And there he was. John Taylor.
Taylor turns around and looks at the two.
F. Player: The last five years. Boiling down to a single moment.
Deimos: And you hesitated. You could have killed him right there and you hesitated. After all these years, running from failure...
While Deimos speaks, more Robots enter the room, but Taylor takes control of them; have them drop their weapons; and moves them behind him.
Deimos: ...and you couldn't pull the trigger. You had what you wanted right in front of you, yet you stopped. What was it? Why stop now when you were so close...
Taylor faces Hendricks, with his eyes returning to normal.
Deimos: Was it compassion? Regret?
F. Player: No. It was Hendricks. He tried to talk Taylor down, get him to change his mind. For a moment, I saw the light return to Hendricks's eyes. I saw him. This is one of my last memories with Hendricks before... well, before what happened.
While the Player speaks, Taylor's eyes show the DNI rings again and he walks away.
F. Player: And watching Taylor walk away as Hendricks pleaded, I saw the inevitability. We weren't going to win this war.
While Deimos speaks, the Three Robot's systems began to overload.
Deimos: But as always, you pressed on.
Two of the Robots are self-destructed by Taylor.
Gameplay #3[]
The Third Robot survives, and Hendricks takes it down.
F. Player: This was the world we made... what else were we going to do?
The two eliminate the Zombies and move up. As they push through more of the Undead, the Player's DNI optics glitches for the seventh time as she sees snow again with the crows.
Dolos: Let them come. Like puppets on strings. What choice do you have, Deimos? This is the world you made for yourself.
After reaching to the exit of the room, the Player's DNI optics returns back to normal for the seventh time as live footage is shown on the top left of Taylor walking across the Sky Bridge. The two move up, with nowhere left to go. However, a Robot breaches through a wall above the door and is destroyed as the two climb up.
The two go through more of the Zombies to pursue Taylor, as they push the mobile shop blocking the way to create a gap and head outside, where there's more of the Undead waiting for them, as well as another mobile shop & a few VTOLs going down and crashing into the Lotus Towers and a Sky Bridge. The two go through the Undead and as they cross the two damaged Sky Bridges:
F. Player: Taylor was gunning for Tower Two, the NRC built an airfield on the roof, it was his way out of Cairo. The Egyptian Army moved in to offer support as we moved across the Sky Bridge.
The two eventually reach Tower Two and a Wraith suddenly crashes into Tower Two, knocking a mobile shop off the Tower. The two go inside Tower Two and move up. Suddenly, the Player's DNI shows statics.
Deimos: What happened when you entered Tower Two?
F. Player: A... another malfunction.
The screen cuts to black.
F. Player: My DNI...
Cutscene #2[]
The scene shows blood going down a deep water before it changes into Taylor's body; a close up an eye as it opens, with the face covered in blood; and Taylor having and spread his wings on his back.
Dolos: Listen to me... listen to the sound of my voice...
The scene then shows a crow and its spreading influence throughout the area, and Diaz plugged in with the servers inside the pod.
Dolos: ...I need you to trust me... let him win...
The scene then shows some large trees and a crow cawing with branches coming out and growing from its mouth, and the human eye again with a large tree and a lot of crows reflecting from the Eye's Iris.
Dolos: ...the only way to defeat Deimos is to let. Him. Win...
The scene goes black before it shows a burning skull as the flame grows and shows a large pair of wings.
Dolos: You are more powerful than he can imagine.
The scene then shows some large floating pieces of the ground with some trees and the head of a crow beneath one of the pieces as it caws.
Dolos: You can still save them. You can still save... everyone.
The first scene shows some large trees and Kane simultaneously; the second scene shows a large tree and Hendricks simultaneously; and the last scene shows more large trees and Taylor simultaneously and it cuts to black.
Gameplay #4[]
Hendricks checks on the Player.
F. Player: Hendricks snapped us out of it.
While the Player speaks, Hendricks motions his head to go and the two resume their pursuit on Taylor.
F. Player: Tower Two was an inferno, an abandoned robot factory crawling with malfunctioning robotics and the undead. We had to move.
More Zombies and R.A.P.S. head for the two as more live footage is shown on the top left of Taylor running to a mobile shop, ascending. The two head to the center of Tower Two, which has a lot of destruction and flames as the two push through more of the Undead and Talons, and they reach to a console near a mobile shop. The Player hacks the console.
Cutscene #3[]
While Deimos speaks, the mobile shop doors open as the two head inside. Hendricks hacks the mobile shop to close the doors and ascend.
Deimos: I must admit, our conversations... talking to you now, it has been quite the journey. Even now, you still resist submission. I don't think I've ever met a human like you.
The mobile shop reaches the top floor, opens the doors, and the two exit and move up to find Taylor.
Deimos: You certainly are unique. You really gave humanity a fighting chance.
A large swarm of Taylor's Robots arrived behind the two.
Deimos: By this time, you knew I was baiting you...
Hendricks fires his gun at the Robots and then stops.
Deimos: ...waiting for you. I had no need for Hendricks, he wasn't interesting. I wanted you.
Hendricks fires again and he runs out of ammo. He drops his KN-44 and use his cybernetic arms to punch and takedown the Robots. While Deimos speaks, the Player heads to the roof and she locates Taylor.
Deimos: I gave him something to keep him busy. You came after me. What's it like... looking at him for one last time? One moment, he's with you, the next...
While Deimos speaks, a Mothership is seen flying in the Sandstorm as it reveals and shoots two missiles at the Player, who manages to get out of the way.
Deimos: We know what happens next. I was leaving Cairo, it was time to move on. But still I lingered... But right then, you had my full attention. Your resistance, your unwillingness to yield hope...
Gameplay #5[]
Deimos: ...I wanted to see what you were made of.
A few mobile armories arrived for the Player.
F. Player: A Mothership. The only way to bring it down was by taking out its thrusters. I needed something more powerful. And you threw everything you could at me.
The Player tries to destroy the Mothership's thrusters, along with its R.A.P.S. and/or Hounds, with her weapon, an XM-53, or the Minigun while avoiding its Machine Guns and Missiles. The Player eventually destroys the Mothership's four thrusters.
Cutscene #4[]
The Mothership is going down as the Player realizes she is about to be crushed. The Player runs and drops her weapon to try to get a safe distance as the Mothership lands on the roof. While the Player speaks, her cybernetic arm has been impaled by a steel rod.
F. Player: The Mothership crashed and pinned me on the roof. I was stuck, trapped. I called out, but there was no one there.
Deimos: I'd gotten over my curiosity...
While Deimos speaks, Taylor walks up to the Player as he takes out his knife.
Deimos: ...and now you were just a nuisance - I no longer needed to my distraction, it was time to rid the world of you. And Taylor was just the vehicle to carry out my plan. You raised your hand, tried to stop him, tried to reason with him...
Deimos: But something happened, a change, he changed... what was it he said?
While the Player speaks, Taylor stabs himself in the back of the neck.
F. Player: He told me he had to get you out of his head.
The Player watches Taylor scream as he pulls out his DNI from himself and he falls down next to her, severely wounded.
F. Player: He ripped out his DNI, the very method by which you controlled us.
Deimos: What did he say to you?
F. Player: He asked me about Kane. Somehow, he knew who she was, he... he told me to trust her. I don't know how he knew...
Deimos: And then my puppet made his entrance.
John Taylor is then executed as the Player watches Hendricks shooting, reloading, and rearming his MR6.
F. Player: Hendricks...
F. Player: ...he was infected. Like Taylor. Like me. It happened at Coalescence Singapore, five years ago. When he interfaced with Diaz. I should have seen it, I should have known. You'd been possessing him since the beginning.
Deimos: [chuckles] You... humans... so focused on your beginnings and endings...
Hendricks boards on another Mothership.
Deimos: ...it's no wonder you destroyed yourselves. So I gave you YOUR ending. I left you there to die. Hendricks would be my vehicle of annihilation.
Hendricks leaves while the scene switches and zooms out from the wounded Player and a deceased Taylor as the screen fades to black.
The Player awakens in the hospital, with Kane right next to her.
Deimos: But your... "Guardian Angel". She wouldn't let you die. She saved you. She helped you cheat death again. She wouldn't let you DIE. You must have been tired. Tired of fighting. Of running. Of living. What's it like? To escape death when it's all you desire? What did she have to say to you?
Dolos: Do as he asks. Give Deimos what he wants. Trust me. It's all going to be okay.
Kane takes off her Black Ops Bandana and leaves it on a nearby table.
F. Player: That we were going to Zürich. To stop Hendricks. To stop you. To end it.
Kane walks away as the screen fades to black and the mission ends.
