Matthew Charles Sanders, better known by his stage name M. Shadows, is the lead vocalist and a founding member of the rock band Avenged Sevenfold. He appears as a character in the Call of Duty: Black Ops II campaign, and is a playable character in the Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 as part of Operation Apocalypse Z.

Biography[]

M. Shadows appears in the non-canonical post-credit scene of Black Ops II. Along with band mate Synyster Gates, Shadows meets with Raul Menendez and Frank Woods at the backstage before the concert. Shadows yells at Menendez and asks him what he's doing, while Menendez is responding that he's been practicing, Gates then hits him in the head and tells him that he shouldn't make many mistakes. Shadows greets Woods with a more friendly tone and asks him if he's ready to rock. He and Gates then performs the song Carry On, with 95-year-old Woods playing drums and Menendez playing guitar.
