The M13 is an assault rifle featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Mobile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]

"Automatic assault rifle featuring a short stroke piston system that keeps the fire rate high and the recoil low."
— In-game description

Overview[]

Campaign[]

The M13 is used by the SAS during the Campaign, and is Kyle Garrick's starting assault rifle of choice. In "Clean House" and the start of "The Wolf's Den", a semi-automatic only version of the M13 equipped with a reflex sight, laser and suppressor is available for the player.

Multiplayer[]

The M13 is a fully-automatic assault rifle unlocked at rank 39. It comes with low damage for an assault rifle (and by most other standards). It requires a minimum of 5 shots to kill out to 30 meters, though this can be lowered to 4 or even 3 shots with headshots. Past this distance it will require 6 shots. Fortunately, the M13 comes with a lofty fire rate of 891 RPM. This is faster than most other fully-automatic assault rifles, LMGs, and SMGs. Time-to-kill is not particularly fast due to needing several shots to kill, but the weapon’s rate of fire makes it more forgiving when missing a couple of shots.

The M13 also features generally favorable handling for an assault rifle. Move speed is fair, ADS speed is among the fastest in the class, and hipfire spread is average yet workable thanks to the high rate of fire. The gun also comes with a standard 30 round magazine, but the high rate of fire and low damage mean that this ammo will be depleted rapidly. The M13 also has fairly controllable recoil. Though the gun will drift upwards due to the high fire rate, recoil under fully-automatic fire is predictable out to midrange. Overall, the weapon has a host of traits that make it pretty flexible both up close and out to medium distances. It is one of the nimbler assault rifles, but its time-to-kill can be lacking if the player does not achieve a headshot.

It also comes with an interesting variety of attachments to tailor the gun to a variety of situations. The Tempus Mini barrel will speed up ADS and move speed but slightly hamper long range performance. The M13 will generally handle faster like an SMG. This can be combined with the M13 Skeleton Stock for a mobile ADS-centric build or No Stock and Stippled Grip Tape for maximum mobility in tight spaces. In contrast, the Tempus Marksman will noticeably boost damage range and reduce recoil for stronger performance far away. The Tempus Cyclone is an interesting choice as it provides an integrated suppressor that increases bullet velocity with only a minor ADS speed penalty. There’s also the usual variety of muzzles, optics, and underbarrel attachments for the assault rifle class.

Adding an extended magazine is a great way to satiate the M13’s voracious appetite for ammunition. Reloads will be less frequent and the gun will have more reserve ammo, which is essential for prolonged streaks. However, the M13 also has a unique magazine altering attachment: .300 Blackout 30-Round Mags. This attachment will grant 25% extra range and remove both bullet tracers and the skulls that appear above killed enemies. These benefits are useful for more stealthy playstyles, especially for flanking opponents. Combining this with a suppressor or the Tempus Cyclone barrel will make for a deadly and silent build that can harass enemies while avoiding detection.

Warzone[]

In Warzone, the M13 is one of the slowest killing assault rifles due to its low damage. The M13 will take 11 shots to down a fully-plated enemy up to 34 meters and 13 shots past this distance, with its TTK ranging from 673ms to 855ms. However, the M13 is one of the most forgiving assault rifles in the Modern Warfare arsenal, sporting a relatively fast fire rate of 891 RPM and considerably lower recoil than other assault rifles. Because of its relatively slower TTK compared to other assault rifles, being able to track and lead shots accurately is essential in making the most out of the M13.

As with most other assault rifles in Warzone, a larger magazine size coupled with recoil reducing attachments is highly recommended in order to increase the killing potential of the M13. The Tempus Marksman barrel is considered to be one of the most essential attachments for the M13, increasing its range, recoil control, and bullet velocity while having a minimal impact on its ADS and movement speeds. The Monolithic Suppressor is also crucial, as it also increases range and bullet velocity as well as keeping the user hidden from the radar. Due to its low damage, the 60 Round Mags is necessary to be able to deal with multiple opponents at once. The Commando Foregrip, while slightly reducing movement speed, increases recoil control with no penalty to ADS speed. While optics are generally up to user preference, the VLK 3.0x Optic is recommended, as it allows the user to deal with opponents at range while also adding a slight recoil control benefit.

Overall, the M13 is one of the more underperforming weapons in Warzone. Although it is one of the more accurate assault rifles in the game, its slower killing potential can prove to be a great hinderance, especially at range. A fully-kitted M13 may be able to hold its own against ground loot weapons, but it struggles to keep up with most other similarly kitted assault rifles.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

"Assault rifle with an extremely high fire rate and strong headshot multiplier."
— In-game description

The M13 returns in Call of Duty: Mobile. It was added in October 2021 as part of Season 8: 2nd Anniversary update.

Multiplayer[]

The M13 sports lower than average damage, at 24 to all parts of the body other than to the head, making it a consistent 5-shot kill, sub-par for the class. However, it has an incredibly fast fire-rate like its Modern Warfare counterpart, making time-to-kill reasonable for the weapon. It also features a strong headshot multiplier of 1.5, and as such, headshots will drastically affect time-to-kill.

Compared to other assault rifles, there is a lack of recoil, as vertical recoil only really builds up under sustained fire, making firing accurate a little less of a challenge. Hipfire spread is slightly wider than average, but the high fire-rate can negate this issue to a degree. In terms of mobility, the weapon is a bit slow compared to others, with the ADS speed being slight sub-par.

In terms of ammunition, the M13 is unique, as it has larger capacity magazines compared to others, featuring a 50-round and 60-round mag rather than a 40-round mag (though the .300 RTC Double Stack serves a similar purpose). Both magazines have no affect on ADS speed, only harming reload speed and movement speed. The M13 also features two types of .300 RTC magazines, the single magazine and the Double Stack Magazine. They both increase range and suppress the weapon at the cost of ADS time. The Double Stack Mag increases both magazine capacity and reload speed, and has the highest ADS penalty.

Overall, the M13 is a specialized weapon that balances its high fire-rate with lower damage that encourages the player to aim higher to ensure a faster kill, though standard assault rifle tactics can be employed with the right attachments.

Battle Royale[]

Overall, this gun is great for close range and mid-range combat, though combat at longer ranges make for frequent reloads due to the gun's high rate of fire. This gun is not suited for long-range combat due to its low damage.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II & Modern Warfare III[]

"The M13B features a short-stroke piston system that allows for a high rate of rife and low recoil."
— In-game description

The M13 returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II as the M13B.

The M13B is also available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III as part of the Modern Warfare II content carryover.

Overview[]

Campaign[]

The M13B is Rodolfo Parra's main weapon of choice in the Modern Warfare II campaign, and is also used sometimes by Kyle "Gaz" Garrick. However, it cannot be directly acquired by the player.

In the Modern Warfare III campaign, the M13B can be obtained in the final mission "Trojan Horse", where it is used by SFOs. It is also carried by Gaz in some missions.

Multiplayer[]

The M13B was added as part of the Modern Warfare II Season One update.

In Modern Warfare II, the M13B can only be obtained by extracting it via DMZ. Initially, the only method was by looting the Hazardous blueprint dropped by the Chemist after killing him in DMZ and successfully extracting with it. Alternatively, the player can unlock it by picking up one brought in by another player and extract with it, or by deploying into the match with any M13B blueprint, and then exfil with it.

In Modern Warfare III, the M13B can be unlocked by either completing its Multiplayer challenge, or by extracting it via Zombies mode in Operation Deadbolt, similar to DMZ.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]

  • The M13 is the preferred weapon of choice for Kyle "Gaz" Garrick. He uses a custom version, identical to the "Short Stuff" blueprint available in multiplayer modes.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

  • The "Morningstar" Mythic Blueprint was originally called "Forerunner", an apparent reference to the race of the same name from Halo. The design could also have drawn inspiration from the Prometheans from the series.
  • The "Carrot Cutie" Legendary Blueprint will show the exact date on when did the player started playing the game, this can be seen on the right side of the gun blueprint.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II[]

  • On the receiver, above the magazine, there's tiny string of text that reads: "RESTRICTED MILITARY/ GOVERNMENT LAW ENFORCEMENT/ EXPORT USE ONLY"
    • Right next to that, above the trigger, it reads: "Bruen Inc., Switzerland"
    • On the opposite side of the reciever, it reads: "WARNING! Read manual and safety instruction before use"
  • Prior to the M13B's release in Season One, the weapon can be seen being held by Gustavo "Gus" Rodriguez in the Operator menu.
  • The Hazardous blueprint was originally named "Health Hazard".
    • Extracting the Hazardous blueprint in DMZ only allows it to be used as a contraband weapon in the mode itself; the blueprint itself was only unlockable for use in Multiplayer and Warzone as part of Crown's Tier 4 mission rewards from Seasons 2-3.
