In recent intel on callofduty.com, Treyarch announced that the M16 will be one of the modern weapons available to players in the updated Nazi Zombies maps from Call of Duty: World at War.

It costs 1200 points in Black Ops Zombie Mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops (Nintendo DS)

The M16 is set to appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops (Nintendo DS). It has a 30 round magazine and has appeared with a Red Dot Sight.

Trivia

  • As seen briefly in the Wager match trailer, it has the same reload animation as the M16A4 from Modern Warfare 2 .
  • An M16 equipped with a Flamethrower or Grenade Launcher attachment has a different handguard from the stock M16 handguard, being replaced with a heat-shield.
  • When equipped with the Flamethrower attachment, it bares a strong resemblance to the flamethrower featured in the movie Aliens.
  • Treyarch confirmed the multiplayer M16 is an early prototype, which is why it fires in bursts, instead of fully automatic as seen in early tests of gameplay.
  • Even though the weapon model has a 20-round magazine, the magazine capacity is 30 rounds.
