The Makarov PM is a pistol featured in Call of Duty: Black OpsCall of Duty: Black Ops (Nintendo DS)Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. A poster with the Makarov is briefly seen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and an unusable Makarov is seen on a character model in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops[]

Campaign[]

The Makarov appears often during the campaign as the main sidearm of the NVA and the Spetsnaz, and is also used by the Vorkuta Prison Guards and Viktor Reznov. It is most notably used by Alex Mason to hold off enemy prison guards in "Vorkuta" and to execute Friedrich Steiner in "Rebirth." It is also seen in the mission "Executive Order" and "The Defector."

Multiplayer[]

The Makarov is one of the three handguns unlocked along with Create-A-Class at level 4.

At any range short of 8.75 meters, the Makarov will deal forty damage per bullet, netting a three shot kill. Damage decreases linearly until 22.5 meters. At any range past 22.5 meters, the Makarov will deal twenty damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. The Makarov has a three shot kill range of 12.9 meters, and a four shot kill range of nineteen meters. In Hardcore, the Makarov has a one shot kill range of roughly fifteen meters. The Makarov deals forty percent extra damage on a headshot. This can reduce the number of shots needed to kill, but the Makarov usually needs multiple headshots for this to be relevant. The Makarov has low penetration power.

The Makarov fires semi-automatically, and has a maximum potential rate of fire of 625 RPM, allowing the user to fire at a pace of roughly ten rounds per second without invoking the firecap.

The Makarov has recoil values of 35 to the left and to the right. The Makarov has no downwards recoil value, and will instead kick upwards on every shot, with the recoil value upwards being either 25 or 45. The Makarov has a centerspeed of 1100.

The Makarov allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 80% of the base movement speed. The Makarov allows users to aim down the sights in 150 milliseconds, and the hip-fire accuracy is decent. The Makarov's reload animation is 1.63 seconds long, or 1.92 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 1.15 seconds.

The Makarov has a magazine capacity of eight rounds, and has a starting ammo loadout of 32 rounds.

The Makarov has the standard assortment of pistol attachments on offer. All attachments work as expected on the Makarov.

Call of Duty: Black Ops (Nintendo DS)[]

Campaign[]

The Makarov returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops (Nintendo DS) as the Makarov PM. It appears in the mission "Breaking Free" as a starting weapon, as well as a starting weapon in "Coastal Run". It is also the starting weapon in Zombies, unlike its console counterparts, which use the M1911 as the starting weapon instead.

Multiplayer[]

The Makarov is the sidearm of choice for the Soviets and Vietnamese. It has a 12-round magazine, clear sights and decent stopping power, capable of killing an enemy in two or three hits at the chest, or one headshot. The player will gain a Makarov with a suppressor in Last Stand instead of a normal Makarov, even if the player has chosen a normal Makarov as a weapon.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2[]

Salvage-Weapon Diagrams

Call of Duty: Black Ops[]

  • In the Wager Match trailer, the Dual Wield Makarov has a different firing sound than the one in the retail release.
  • In the Wager Match trailer, in the clip that previews One in the Chamber, one can see a Makarov being used as the primary pistol when in fact the M1911 pistol is the primary pistol that is used. This indicates that the Makarov was going to be used in the earlier stages of development.
  • The Makarov is held with two hands, but in multiplayer trailers, it was held with only one hand. In the Wii version, however, it is still held with one hand.
  • The Makarov as seen in the Wii version of Call of Duty: Black Ops is quite different from its counterparts in other consoles. It has a different firing sound, it is more quiet and sounds similar to a Pack-A-Punched weapon, and Extended Mags increases the reload time.
  • In the Nintendo Wii version, the Makarov does higher damage than the M1911.
  • When the player picks up a Makarov with Extended Mags, the player will not rack the slide.
  • When using Dual Wield, the left Makarov makes no firing sound.
  • During the coal cart sequence in "Vorkuta", the Makarov is a one-hit-kill at close range and two at mid-to-long range and leaves a large wound to any guard shot.
  • It has a Soviet Izhevsk Arsenal "circle with arrow in triangle" logo on the frame as well as a manufacture date of 1961.

Call of Duty: Black Ops (Nintendo DS)[]

  • The Nintendo DS version with a silencer does not show a silencer in the inventory. It just shows an ordinary Makarov.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]

  • Equipping the Sorokin 140mm Auto attachment changes the Sykov's HUD name to "Sorokin".
  • Equipping the Lightweight Single-Action attachment, when switching weapons the Operator will use the safety/decocker lever on the slide to uncock the hammer before holstering the pistol.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War[]

  • In multiplayer, two unusable Makarovs are holstered on some of Helen Park's outfits. An unusable Makarov is also holstered on Samantha Maxis' "Dark Aether" skin.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

  • The Dobvra was originally called Makarov at its release in Season 4: Veiled Uprising. The name was changed in an update during the season on May 11th, 2023.
  • When equipping any barrel attachment, the slide stop lever disappears from the weapon model.
