The Margwa Head is a wearable item that can be acquired in the map Shadows of Evil.[1] It gives the player resistance from the Margwa slam attack (Margwas will still destroy the Rocket Shield in one slam). It does not change the HUD icon of the player characters unlike other wearable items featured on other maps.

How To Obtain[]

First, six Margwas must be killed in a match. In co-op, this total is shared among all players; each player does not need to individually kill six Margwas. As natural Margwa spawns are quite infrequent, there are many guaranteed Margwa sources:

  • One after completing the second ritual for a Gateworm.
  • One after completing the fourth ritual for a Gateworm.
  • One after all Gateworms are set in the Sacred Place, and after the Shadowman disappears.
  • One guaranteed to spawn during the first Arch-Ovum ritual after acquiring the Apothicon Sword.
  • Two guaranteed to spawn during every remaining Arch-Ovum ritual for a player after the first.
  • In co-op, other players performing their Arch-Ovum rituals will more than fulfill the requirement.

After six are killed, six Margwa Hearts spawn on various signs and billboards around the map. Getting familiar from ground level in advance will be very helpful to get an idea for where most of them are located to save on Points. Five of the six Margwa Hearts can be seen from the ground level, with one in the Footlight District only able to be seen while riding the Tram.

All six Margwa Hearts must be shot specifically while riding the Tram. Taking the Tram from Waterfront to Footlight, then Footlight to Canals is the recommended route for the easiest angles on all six Margwa Hearts. The two Margwa Hearts within the Footlight District are the most difficult since they are both out of bounds, so getting two chances at both of them will offer the best opportunity to shoot them. The locations listed below are ordered in such a way to follow this route, but it is not required and they can be shot in any order.

  • Players will have a maximum of two Tram rides to hit all the Margwa Hearts.
  • If more than two Tram rides are taken, all Hearts will respawn. Players can retry as much as needed, even within the same round.
  • A small Margwa growl will be heard upon successfully shooting a Heart, specifically to the player who shot it.
  • A weapon with a large magazine or splash damage are good choices to shoot the Hearts consistently.

Margwa Heart Locations[]

  1. (Leaving Waterfront, left side): Above the M8A7 wallbuy, on the blue "Morg City Gas & Electric" sign directly after leaving the Station.
  2. (Leaving Waterfront, left side): When standing at the Waterfront Tram Station, look slightly to the left of where the crate must be hit with melee in Beast Mode to get the Champion Belt for the Boxing Gym ritual; it is on the "Watermelon" poster on The Connoy building.
  3. (Junction area, left side if Waterfront-->Footlight): Up next to the center of where the three Tram tracks intersect within the Junction, on the top left side of the "Devil O Donuts" sign.
  4. (Leaving Footlight, right side): On the "Coffee" neon sign, below the "Hotel" neon sign directly before the first left bend that the Tram takes when leaving the Station. This is outside the map, but can be seen to the left of the buildable workbench where the Fuse in this district is located and looking out of bounds towards where the Tram's track goes.
  5. (Leaving Footlight, right side): On the "H" of the white Theater sign, after the first left hand bend outside the map. This Margwa Heart can only be seen while riding the Tram.
  6. (Leaving Canals, left side): On the "Y" of the Ruby Rabbit sign, almost directly next to the Canals Tram Station.

Once complete, a Margwa death audio cue will be heard, completing this step.

Finding the Margwa Head[]

The way the Margwa Head spawns is unique. The head itself is invisible, and will only be seen as an intermittently shining white light with a pickup icon so it may take a moment for players to see it, even when looking at the correct spot. The location it chooses is randomized with every game.

  • In co-op, the Margwa Head will first spawn randomly as usual at one of the following locations, and only one player can pick it up. It will then vanish from that location, and randomly spawn at another location for another player to pick up. This repeats in sequence until all four locations are chosen, and all four players will be able to wear the Margwa Head. In a lobby of four people, all four locations will be chosen exactly once.
  • If players bleed out and respawn, they will still be wearing the Margwa Head. It will persist the rest of the game.

The Margwa Head will randomly spawn at the following locations:

  • Ruby Rabbit, top floor on the balcony that leads outside that cannot be jumped off, right side on the floor.
  • Nero's Landing, underneath the staircase, on the wooden table with a miniature red lamp next to it.
  • Boxing Gym, next to a white towel bundled on the floor next to the lockers in the back center of the building.
  • Black Lace Burlesque, on the stage's left side, next to an overturned chair.
