Memento refers to collectibles in the campaign of Call of Duty: WWII. Mementos are scattered across spots in the level map. There are 33 mementos to collect. After all 33 Mementos throughout the single player campaign have been found, the Pieces of History achievement/trophy will be unlocked.

The mementos can be rotated in the menu to see them from different angles, however, PC users will need to connect a controller to be able to do so. It does not seem possible to rotate the mementos with mouse and keyboard.

D-Day

• Nazi knife: The knife can be found after the Seawall has been breached, and entered the trenches.
• Compass: after clearing the third bunker, the game will force you to backtrack, but before you head into the fourth bunker, turn to the left, and walk down the trench ahead of you. A door that was previously closed will now be open, and inside the supply room, there'll be the collectible compass on a box.
• Pathfinder Patch: after destroying the artillery, check the barn right behind the remains of the artillery. In there, at the end of the barn, you can find the Pathfinder Patch.

The M1938 Lensatic Compass is a critical piece of field gear that gives officers and squad leaders a dependable land navigation capability that can be decisive in combat.

Only airborne personnel qualified through the successful completion of the Pathfinder course are authorized to wear this patch.

Operation Cobra

• Lighter: At the start of the mission, when you're prompted to mount the tank, turn instead to the right, where you'll see two soldiers having a conservation. Just to the left of them, on a barrel, is the lighter Memento.
• Pocket Watch: Just before the actual opening with the AA gun, you'll find a small wooden hut on the left side of the map. You can find the collectible Pocket Watch Memento on a shelf. 
• Gas Mask: When you're prompted to get behind a tank and follow it, stand behind the tank on the very right, and follow it until it destroys the bunker on the right side of the map. In the remains of the bunker, you'll find the collectible Gas Mask Memento on a German soldier corpse. 

Personalized Lighter of U.S. Naval Aviator.

Customized lighters of this type were able to stay lit even in harsh weather, making them an essential tool for every American soldier.

A small civilian pocket watch. Engraving on back.

This civilian time piece is an important status symbol and provides a direct benefit in the daily lives of both shopkeeper and farmer.

Every German soldier was issued and carried a gas mask. This M38 mask is made from molded rubber with a metal alloy respirator snout.

• The bottom of the lighter is engraved with BPLDFA GER 15
• The watch states it was produced by the "Aleanr watch company". Despite saying so, there does not seem to be any engraving of a name on the back of the watch.

Stronghold

• Locket: In the derelict house occupied by Nazis right in front of you at the beginning of the mission, the Locket can be found upstairs. Head up the stairs at the back of the house, face the child's bedroom, and turn left, where the Locket can be found on a wall. 
• SS Pin: Inside the church, face the ammo box, and turn to the right. The SS Pin can be found in a small alcove on the wall to the right of the ammo box.
• Fuel Canister: Once out of the church, you'll have to defend the point against waves of Nazi troops. Head to the right of the zone, where the enemies are coming up into your base area, and walk forward to find the small green fuel canister on the ground to the right of you.

A locket enclosing images of loved ones is a valued personal possession.

Empty flamethrower fuel canister.

Although the Mk.2 flamethrower is an effective combat engineer's weapon, it can only function when charged with full tanks of fuel and nitrogen propellant.

S.O.E.

• White Rose Poster: At the start of the mission, as soon as you're through the first house, turn to the left. There'll be a poster in the vase that you can collect.
• Dog Collar: Shortly after the first Memento, you'll find yourself in a second house, with burning rubble outside. Go to the end of the house, and then check to the left to find the Dog Collar on top of a piano. 
• Rocket Blueprint: After you've made it through the burning train, you'll come to a grassy area that's left untouched by the fire, and you can make it up a small hill to where a dog attacks you. However, going up the hill will end the mission, so before you do this, check to the right side of the grassy area, where you'll find the collectible Memento on top of a box.

The German forces use military working dogs for their effectiveness in combat, their territorialism, as well as their hunting and tracking instincts.

V-2 rocket plans, dirty and distressed.

The V-2 rocket is the world's first true ballistic missile. Technical drawings of the V-2 are one of the most closely guarded secrets of the war.

Liberation

• Propaganda Poster: At the very start of the mission, after going through passport control, go straight ahead in the welcome hall to reach a grey door next to the window leading into the toilets. The Memento can be found in front of a toilet, in the restroom itself. 
• Liquor Bottle: After placing the explosives, turn around and find the door on your right, which will be locked. Pick the lock and head all the way upstairs. You will find the Memento in the first room that you come to.
• German Medal: After you've crossed the large bridge with barbed wire blockades, look for the German Medal Memento on a box.

This is an example of the World War II Order of the German Eagle (Bronzene Verdienstmedaille der Deutschen Adleroden), which is presented to foreign diplomats.

• The poster reads Nationale Studentenbewegung. Deutsches Reich groß und frei! [National Student Movement. German Empire great and free!]
• The back of the medal is engraved with Deutsche Verdienstmedaille

Collateral Damage

• Music Sheet: After the tank section, you'll find yourself in a narrow street, and you should turn left on the first corner of the street. There, you'll find the collectible Music Sheet Memento paper on a cupboard.
• Cigarette Box: When you reach a house with a Heroic Action opportunity (a soldier is about to be shot by a Nazi), you'll find yourself in the living room, with two big holes that you can walk through (keep right). Go through the hole, up the rubble to reach higher ground, turn around, and claim the Memento by the fireplace across bombed out section of the house. 
• Hotel Pen: After you've blown up the hotel wall, go inside and head into the room on the right, where you can find the Memento underneath a desk to you immediate left.

Death Factory

• German Flare Gun: German Flare Gun: Once you reach the area with a sniper and a few trucks parked in the woods, you can find the Memento behind the truck on the right.
• Food Container: While you're in the foggy woods, you'll see a dead pilot hanging from his parachute. Check inside the crashed plane nearby to retrieve the collectible Memento.
• US Army Rations: US Army Rations: Straight after you eliminate the sniper, turn around from where you're standing, and walk to the left of the stairs. There, on a chair, you'll find the Memento.

The LP-42 Flare Gun also known as Leuchtpistole 42/Kampfpistole is made out of stamped steel or zinc. It is capable of firing 27mm flares, smoke grenades, anti-personel [sic] grenades, and anti-armor grenades.

US Army rations.

A a result of the interruption of food distribution in northwest Europe following D-Day, food supplies have fallen into short supply. This shortage placed importance on U.S. Army K-rations.

• The German food container reads Nicht auf Feuer stellen [Do not place on fire]
• The K ration reads Supper Ration Type K. Carefully remove bag. You may use bag as a waterproof container to store sensitive items. For safety hide wrappers and can when finished so that they will not be seen.
  • On the sides are printed Packaged by Warender Food Company Concord, Tennessee and NOTICE - Mosquito bites cause malaria. If you are in a malaria zone keep your shirt on and your sleeves rolled down, use mosquito repellent when out of doors between sunset and sunrise.
  • Printed on the back is Meal: ready cold or heated by boiling in water, or by frying in its own fat then add biscuit crumbles. Coffe [sic?] · Biscuits · Bouill · Confection · Cigarettes · Sugar · Chewing Gum

Hill 493

• Journal: After blowing up the bunker, check the surrounding area for a corpse next to a tree stump. The piece of paper next to the tree stump is the actual Memento. 
• Pipe: This Memento can be found to the right of the first set of artillery you have to destroy. 
• Bill Fold: Before you're prompted to plant the thermite charge on the tank, look for a destroyed bunker at the very end of the area. On the window of the ruined bunker is the collectible Bill Fold Memento.

An English smoking pipe.

A pipe gives troops something to do during leisure time and serves as a reminder of the comforts of home.

This is a journal from an infantryman in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division who was KIA.

"Seems like we'll never get out of the forest. The Germans know it better than we ever could and they've had all the time in the world to reinforce their defenses. After we finally destroyed a few hidden bunkers, I lost my buddy Miller to tree burst when the Krauts shelled us from Hill 493. If you're reading this, I didn't make it home. Please tell Katie and the girls I'll always love them and that daddy fought to make the world a better place. We're moving out again so I have to go. You're the best, ma."

Battle of the Bulge

• Camera" At the very start of the mission, look to the right to see three soldiers huddled around. The Camera Memento can be found just to the right of them. 
• Comic Book: To the right of the spot where you have to place the ammo box, the Comic Book Memento can be found lying on the ground.
• US Metal Wings: When you're given the objective to defend the line from enemies, you can find a small green tent up a hill. Check behind the tent, where you'll find a Medkit and the Memento.

C2 Camera.

Introduced in 1939 [sic], the C2 camera, with its distinctive 'brick' shape is prized by soldiers and photojournalists for its durability and high quality images.

• The Argus C2 camera shown in-game was introduced in 1938 while the Argus C3 was introduced in 1939
• The comic book character named "Incredible Soldier" is most likely a reference to Marvel's Captain America.
• The back of the comic shows a variety of prizes that readers can send in coupons to receive.

Ambush

• Magazine: During the stealth section, go into the second building on the right, after you pass through the fence. On a box in this house, you can find the Memento. 
• Silver Flask: After defending Pierson from the snipers, jump down to the roof, and you'll see a red building in front of you. You can find the Memento in this building, near a set of beds. 
• German Wings Medal: Just as you enter the tower where you're meant to provide overwatch for Pierson, you can find the Memento to the right on a box, on the ground floor.

A prized souvenir for U.S. Army soldiers fighting in Europe is a German flask, typically carried by Nazi officers.

The German Luftwaffe issues insignia identifying flight-qualified personnel.

• The magazine somewhat resembles LIFE magazine and features a soldier who looks similar to Aiello. It is dated "No 17 August 42". It costs 10 cents each. Yearly subscription: $4.99.
• The back of the magazine has an ad for the "Prextor" pen company:

The Rhine

• Letter: After going up the second set of stairs, you'll enter the first tower. You can find this Memento on the ground in the middle of a room, with a dying enemy soldier nearby. 
• German Canteen: In the second tower that you enter, you'll go up the first set of stairs, where you can find the Memento on a table in the room.
• Beer Stein: This collectible Memento can be found in virtually the same location as the previous one. This time, the final Memento in the game can be found at the very top of the second tower that you enter.

Letter from elderly member of the Volkssturm, a national militia established by Nazi Germany in the last months of the war.

"I remember after Midnight Mass, when we'd come back home and finish off the Stollen with a cup of good strong coffee. How I miss real coffee. And on Christmas Day, roast goose. Even in those happy times, something told me to hold on tightly, to take nothing for granted. But how could I know we'd come to this? Old men and young boys used as kindling for an insatiable fire. I can't help but feel that God has turned away from us."

The M31 Canteen is a ubiquitous piece of German fieldgear. It consists of an aluminum bottle capable of holding 25-fluid ounces of water, a wool felt insulating cover, leather support straps and a detachable canteen cup.

This stein is customized to a Reserve Machine Gun Company from the 42nd Jäger Regiment. The phrase Erinnerung an meine dienstzeit, meaning "A reminder of my time in the service" is inscribed at the top.

• The letter reads in German as Ich erinnere mich daẞ wir immer nach der Mitternachts Masse nach hause kamen und den übriggedlicher Stollen mit einer guten starken Tasse Kaffee aufaẞen. Ich vermisse richtigen Kaffee so sehr. Und mehr als alles die Weihnachtsgans an Heiligabend. Doch sogar in diesen glücklichen Momenten wurde mir bewusst das ich an ihnen Festhadten soldte und nichts ads selbstverständlich ansehen. Aber ich frage mich wie es denn soweit Kommen Konnte? Alte wie Junge werden unfach zermürbt und vernichtet für eine Unerfullbare Gier. Ich kann darin nur sehen das sich Gott von uns abgewardt hat und wir verloren sind.
