"Remember that pendant? Pfft, disappeared... What do you think, it just sprouted legs and walked away?"

Menendez's Locket is a golden heart shaped locket that repeatedly shows up in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It also appears as a special item in Blackout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[edit | edit source]

As seen in the opening sequence of Black Ops II, the locket belonged to Josefina Menendez, the sister of the main antagonist, Raul Menendez. It also shows Raul about to cut his throat with the pointed end of the locket, before the burning Josefina cries "Don't leave me." Inside of the locket is a picture of Josefina. Raul uses the locket to murder in several cases, including Jason Hudson, a man in the opening of "Old Wounds", and in one ending of the game, Frank Woods, where Raul enters The Vault and slices Woods' throat after escaping prison.

At one point before the main events of the game, Menendez visited Woods at The Vault and gave him the locket, while uttering three words to him: "Now it begins." The locket remained under Woods' possession until some time before David "Section" Mason visited him in June, when the locket mysteriously disappeared.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4[edit | edit source]

The Locket appears as a special item within Blackout, and can be found in Supply Drops. Upon picking it up, the player will receive the Character Mission to unlock Menendez as a playable character, which tasks the player with earning 2 kills with a shotgun.
