Modules make changes to scorestreaks, improving their effectiveness, but it increases the limit of the score you must reach to unlock it. For example, for the turret scorestreak, players can add a rocket module to it, allowing it to fire rockets instead of bullets. However, players must reach a score of 650 in a single life to unlock the turret, which is 100 points higher than the base score of 550.
Players will unlock modules as they increase their rank. There are a total of three slots that are unlocked at certain ranks. Slot 1 is unlocked upon reaching level 5, Slot 2 is unlocked upon reaching level 17, and Slot 3 is unlocked upon reaching level 27.
