Nazi Germany is a term for Germany during the period of 1933-45 when the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Workers' Party)--called the "Nazi" Party for short was the primary and single political and governmental party in Germany. They are the main antagonists in the World War II Call of Duty games.
Call of Duty series
In the first half of the Call of Duty series, the German military is the first and only enemy encountered. Exceptions include: Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, where the player sometimes encounters Italian and Vichy French units, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which takes place in the 21st century and has action in the Middle East, Russia and the Ukraine, one of Call of Duty: World at War's two campaigns, when you play as an American fighting the Japanese and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 against the Ultranationalists. Varied German forces, ranging from standard units of the Heer, to Paratrooper (Fallschirmjäger) units and Waffen-SS are the enemy in Call of Duty 1, 2 and 3. These enemies range from simple infantry on foot, to Tanks and Aircraft in certain stages. In Multiplayer, it typically consists of one team playing as an Allied force (American, Canadian, Soviet, British etc.) against the Germans.
A fictional version of the Germans are the primary antagonists of the game mode Nazi Zombies. They appear in every level but Shi No Numa, which features Imperial Japanese Zombies.
The Nazis serve as a backdrop in Call of Duty: Black Ops for the development of Nova-6, a bio-chemical weapon intended to kill soldiers in a minute and their bodies rotting. They only appear in "Project Nova", where the player is controlled as Viktor Reznov, as he, Dimitri Petrenko and other Russian soldiers embark to infiltrate one of their remaining camps and take the weapon and the creator Steiner back to Russia.
