Operation: Flashback is a limited-time mode featured in Call of Duty: Warzone that was available between November 18th and December 7th, 2021.
Overview[]
Featuring up to 132 players, Operation: Flashback worked in a similar fashion as Battle Royale with playzones changing quicker and more times, up to nine circles. Any player who played the mode were rewarded with the Legendary "Operation: Flashback" Emblem while the players who came out victorious received the Legendary "Victory of Operation Flashback" Calling Card.
The mode featured 11 events, including ones from previous limited-time modes, that could randomly occur at the start of each playzone:
- Jailbreak: Every down player in the Gulag are redeployed.
- Fire Sale: Prices are reduced at the Buy Stations.
- Supply Chopper: Supply helicopters can be shot down to acquire heavy weaponry and high-end loot.
- Cash Drop: Drops filled with Cash are released on the map. This event comes from Plunder.
- Loadout Drop: Loadout Drops are released on the map. Unlike Battle Royale, the Loadout Drop Marker was not available until the event happened.
- Satellite Crash: Satellite Caches are released on the map, a feature from the Ground Fall event.
- Hostile Fire: Activate C4 on the Downtown Tower roof while avoiding the attack helicopter to acquire the Vault Key #2. The Unfinished Business Contract also becomes available. Both event and contracts come from the 80s Action Heroes event.
- Restock: The Supply Boxes refresh their loot, allowing players to open them again. A feature available on Rebirth Island.
- Resurgence: Players redeploy as long as a teammate is alive, a feature from the Resurgence mode.
- Juggernaut Drop: Juggernaut Drops are released on the map, with only one Juggernaut available per squad.
- [REDACTED] Weapon Drop: [REDACTED] Weapon Drops are released on the map containing heavy weapons. [REDACTED] Weapons feature over 8 attachments.
The item pool available to the players was also modified to feature loot from previous seasons:
- Self-Revive Kit: Allowing players to revive themselves if they are downed.
- Precision Airstrike: Calls two strike planes on a designated path.
- Cluster Strike: Launches a mortar strike on a designated spot.
- Gas Mask: Players do not take damage while in the gas for 10 seconds.
- Advanced UAV: Reveals the position and direction of all players. Players using Ghost aren't affected when close to the squad using the Advanced UAV but are visible when they are over 250 meters from that squad.
- Durable Gas Mask: Players do not take damage while in the gas for 30 seconds but the mask caan only be used once. The item was added during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season Five.
- Vault Keycards #1 & #3: Unlocks the Vault of the Downtown Tower to acquire high-end loot. The items were featured in the 80s Action Heroes event.
- Specialist Token: Rewards the player with all available Perks. The item was added during Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season Three.
- Hunter Powerup: Temporarily highlights all nearby players with a heat signature, even through cover. The item was featured in the mode Clash.
- 2X Perk Powerup: Temporarily doubles the Points, XP, and Cash acquired by the player. The item was featured in the mode Clash.
- Speed Boost Powerup: Temporarily grants a speed boost to the player. The item was featured in the mode Clash.
The Buy Stations also featured two more items:
- Bombardment: Launches a missile barrage on a designated area. The item was available during Black Ops Cold War Season Two.
- Truck Redeploy Marker: Calls an Armored Truck to a designated spot. This item comes from the mode Armored Royale.
In addition, players completing a Scavenger Contract were rewarded with a guaranteed Cluster Strike or Precision Airstrike while players completing a Recon Contract were rewarded with a free UAV.
