Operation Crosswind is an Operation featured within the Special Ops mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It is a follow-up to Operation Paladin.
Plot[]
Using Doctor Linda Morales' intel, the Arm-4 team infiltrated the Verdansk Airport occupied by Al-Qatala. They deactivated the comms array, preventing the AQ forces in the airport from calling for reinforcements. The team then boarded the hijacked plane before it took off and recovered the nuclear core before jumping out of the plane. Fighting through Al-Qatala forces in the scrapyard near the airport, they were able to reach their extraction point and exfiltrated with the core in their possession.
Overview[]
Operation Crosswind will require players to infiltrate an airport. They will have to disable several arrays by capturing them, one outside the airport and one inside. The more players that are near the array, the quicker the capture will be.
The players have two options to disable the arrays: storming the airport or infiltrating it undetected. To aid with a stealthy approach, players can equip a tactical suppressor from the safehouse's table to each of their suppressible weapons, even if their weapons already have 5 of the 5 available mod slots filled. In those cases, the suppressor will be added as a 6th "free" mod.
If the players choose to storm the airport, dozens of foot soldiers will defend the arrays. Several Juggernauts will spawn for each array. They will be attacked all the way to the plane.
If the players choose to be stealthy, they will have to disable both comms arrays without having any enemies raise an alarm. Enemies may raise the alarm if they spot a corpse. Once both comm arrays are disabled, the players will gain access to a garage in the airport's underpass which contains disguises. These disguises can be used to reach the plane without raising any further alarms.
Inside the plane, players will have less than 3 minutes to retrieve the nuclear core. Dozens of enemies will spawn as well as a Juggernaut. Once the core is retrieved, the timer will automatically be set to 20 seconds (even if more than 20 seconds was left on the clock before picking up the core). Once the players have breached the cargo door, the timer will reset to 20 seconds so all players can safely exit the plane.
Once on the ground, players will have to fight their way through a scrapyard with dozens of enemies, at least one Juggernaut, and an enemy helicopter. Once the helicopter is destroyed, the players can proceed to the helipad for exfil.

Trivia[]
- The plane section is a reference to the Mile High Club, the last campaign level from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
- When going to the exfil, players can encounter the multiplayer map Scrapyard from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
- The intel on Azur found in this mission can only be obtained by accessing the garage with the disguises after disabling the arrays undetected; it is one of the most difficult intel entries to collect and requires proper communication and coordination between players.
- At Scrapyard, some of the Russian soldiers encountered resemble J-12 and Minotaur in his Poloski skin.
