Operation Deadbolt is a Central Intelligence Agency housed international faction featured in the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. It is commanded by SSO Selma Greene, while its strike teams are led by Johnny "Soap" MacTavish and Sergei Ravenov. They are responsible for containing and investigating the dimensional breach in Zaravan, Urzikstan, stopping Zakhaev and Terminus Outcomes.
History[]
In 2021, Victor Zakhaev, Jack Fletcher and Terminus Outcomes Mercenaries unleashed a zombie outbreak in Zaravan, Urzikstan by unleashing a vial of Aetherium after discovering a hidden room containing the vials. Shortly after, Operation Deadbolt was established overnight in response to the threat. Special Security Officer Selma Greene was placed in charge of the operation. While picking recruits for the newly formed response unit, Greene was recommended by her CIA colleague Kate Laswell to choose Sergei Ravenov, a former Spetsnaz captain who has had past dealings with similar undead incursions. Despite the complete lack of background information on Ravenov, Greene was told to trust the recommendation.
Roughly three weeks after the outbreak started, Deadbolt accrued several additional members: Captain Amy Fang, who handles infiltration and exfiltration; Captain Lucas "Luke" Dobbs, who provides drone reconnaissance; Color Sergeant Rupinder "Roops" Kapoor, who provides mechanical expertise; Corporal Krystal Miller, who handles requisitions; Doctor Hugo Barrera, who studies Dark Aether creatures and phenomena; and Sergeant Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, who handles field operations. In addition, a strike team of Operators was also employed to carry out various missions in the Zaravan exclusion zone to assist other Deadbolt members. After receiving a briefing from Laswell, the strike team deployed in Zaravan for the first time alongside Soap and Ravenov.
Rescuing Dr. Jansen[]
After the strike team acquired Dr. Jansen's tablet and exfiled with it, Dobbs would start working on decrypting the tablet. Dobbs after successfully decrypting the tablet would pinpoint Jansen's location to a Terminus Outcomes compound deep in the EZ. Greene would authorize a rescue mission aiming to bring back the Doctor alive and interrogate her.
After boarding Fang's helicopter, the strike team would arrive at the compound where Dr. Jansen was stationed at. They would fight through waves of undead and Mercenaries to arrive at a console where they used a decryption key left by the Doctor to locate her exact position inside the compound. After getting her location the team would move to Jansen's position, where she was in the middle of erasing her research from the Terminus database. Fletcher, after realizing he couldn't lock her out, would tell Zakhaev about Jansen's defection to Deadbolt. Zakhaev would then threaten the scientist asking her what she'd accomplish by deleting all of her research from the Terminus database and that she would pay with her life. After deleting her research, Jansen alongside the Team would exfil to Deadbotl's HQ.
Greene alongside Soap and Ravenov would interrogate Ava, where she explained that she had no idea Zakhaev was actually a terrorist and that she could find a way to end the Outbreak. Greene would free her from her constraints telling her that she better be right.
Building and testing the Neutralizer[]
After joining Operation Deadbolt, Jansen would begin working on a prototype that she believed could end the outbreak started by Zakhaev. Over the span of a few missions, Jansen would finish her prototype, with it passing it's commissioning test with flying colors.
The strike team would be picked up by Reaper 1-1 and travel to the test site while Soap briefed the strike team on the mission parameters. During the infiltration, Terminus forces would use SAM turrets to destroy the helicopter used to travel to the test site, killing Reaper 1-1 in the process. Soap acting quickly instructed the team to destroy both of the SAM turrets. After successfully destroying the SAM turrets the Prototype would be deployed to a nearby area with it being surrounded by both undead and mercenaries in a few seconds. After clearing the area, the team would activate the ACV and escort it to the test site while being chased by swarms of undead and mercenaries. After the ACV arrived at the site, the team would activate the neutralizer and defend it from a Mega Abomination and a hoard of undead. After some time the team would detonate the neutralizer, killing any infected in the area and destroying aetherium crystals in the area.
Jansen would conclude that the neutralizer was a success and that it could destabilize any raw aetherium within it's blast radius, tho it couldn't destabilize Zakhaev's vial due to it being highly enriched. She stated that she could recalibrate the neutralizer to destabilize Zakhaev's enriched aetherium, but that she needed Strauss's research to do so. Greene would allow Soap and Ravenov to steal the research from a Terminus Warlord.
Confronting and defeating Zakhaev[]
After successfully recalibrating and testing a new Neutralizer, Jansen would begin preparations to transport it to Zakhaev's enrichment facility to cleanse the EZ.
Greene would inform the Strike Team that Jansen completed her Neutralizer and that Fang was inbound to pick them up to pick them up deploy to Zakhaev's enrichment facility. After arriving at the outskirts of the facility, the team would begin making their way to the enrichment facility to plant explosives and destroy it. On the way, Zakhaev would detonate C4's placed on shipping containers that revealed that Terminus had been rounding up zombies and trapping them inside said containers. The team would arrive at the facility and make their way to the enrichment device that was guarded by Mercenaries, they would fightthe Mercenaries and plant charges on the enrichment device, destroying it and any chance of Zakhaev producing more enriched aetherium. The team would move to the site where the Neutralizer was being airdropped via a C-130, Fletcher would dispatch troops to the area to destroy the neutralizer before it could be activated, they would however be killed and the Strike Team activated the device as Ravenov and Jansen deployed to the area. Fletcher in a last ditch attempt to destroy the neutralizer world deploy a attack helo to finally destroy the device, but Barrera would detect heavy seismic activity in the area before a aether worm named Orcus would appear and destroy the helicopter. The team would then fight the worm attacking several weak spots, damaging the worm.
The worm would roar as Jansen realized the neutralizer was ready to be detonated, she would sprint to the neutralizer, detonating it killing Orcus and creating a dimensional rift. The rift would begin pulling in various objects and both Deadbolt and Terminus personnel, the surviving personnel would grab onto nearby objects to avoid being sucked in. Ava would start floating in the air and a mysterious Entity would call out to her, before the doctor screamed. As the rift closed, Ravenov would sprint to Ava as he checked on her, she would say that she heard something calling from the other side. In the aftermath, Deadbolt would capture several mercenaries and bring them in for questioning, Dobbs would inform Ravenov and Jansen that the neutralizer couldn't be repaired and that there was a energy spike in the red zone. They would exfil and return to Deadbolt HQ.
