The Paralyzer is a Wonder Weapon featured in the Zombies map, Buried, in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Upon firing, it slows down and incapacitates zombies before eventually killing them. It has unlimited ammunition, but has a cooldown that reaches a max capacity of 150. Once it reaches capacity, it must be given time to cool down before resuming use, similarly to the M2 Flamethrower from Call of Duty: World at War, and the Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23 (Jet Gun) from Green Runexcept the Paralyzer doesn't implode after overheating, it simply takes about two minutes to cool off.

In addition to how the Paralyzer kills zombies, it can be shot at the ground while jumping to make the player "float" up in the air, similar to like a Jet pack. Allowing the player to get to second story levels quicker than taking the stairs.

Also, there are various glowing red orbs scattered across the map, which the Paralyzer can charge and change the color of. There is also a possibility of destroying them, whether on Ludvig Maxis's side or Edward Richtofen's, with a Subsurface Resonator. This acts as a part of the Easter Egg.

When Pack-a-Punched, the Paraylzer becomes the Petrifier.

Trivia

  • It has two air pumps on the right side.
  • The Paraylzer can fire for 6 consecutive seconds before it needs to cool down; the Petrifier can fire for 10.
  • It is the third air based wonder weapon, the others being the Thundergun and the Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23, and, just like the two other weapons, you cannot aim down the sights.
  • It "paralyzes" zombies and then blows them to bits.
  • It is one of three new Wonder Weapons featured in Buried. The other two are the Ray Gun Mark II and the Time Bomb.
  • It is the third infinite ammo weapon in zombies since the M2 Flamethrower and Thrustodyne Aeronautics Model 23.
  • If the player fires the Paralyzer at the ground and jumps, they will rise several feet into the air and effectively "superjump" into otherwise unreachable ledges. Likewise, if it is fired at the ground while jumping down the player will land softly, due to the air cushion that is created.
