Poisson is a multiplayer map in Call of Duty 3. The opposing factions in this map are the Americans and Germans. The map is a medium-large village in the middle of France.

Tactics

The map is split up between two major spawn points: The two houses across the river and the large barn. Use these locations to pincer hold the opposing faction on the side of the river with the two houses.

Assaulting force: Use the tanks to set up emplacements to suppress the opposing force and target anti-armor soldiers. Once this is set up, one team of two light assault troopers should acquire a motorcycle or jeep to quickly cross the river and drop off one light assault troop to cause havoc on enemy spawning. Motorcycles are faster and more efficient but can be uncontrollable when turning at high speed and many times end up spinning out of control. Jeeps are much easier to drive and have a 50. caliber browning (or with the Horch an MG42) mounted in the back, but these should be kept in reserve to pick off soldiers fleeing to the graveyard before they make it to another spawn or speeding in between the ranks of tanks to provide covering fire. NEVER drop two soldiers off on the other sides of the house and do not advance because it will cause the surrounded team to spawn by the Barn instead of constantly spawning in the same spot. Tanks however are free to advance although they are usually destroyed after a very short time.

If the enemy does begin to spawn near the barn, the assaulting force should try to pincer them there as well, although players should start to change their class to scout as tanks are usually destroyed very quickly due to the closer combat ranges and there are two Sherman Tank spawns within easy reach of the barn. Jeeps and Horches should now drive in circles around the barn and use the mounted machine guns to pick off enemy soldiers spawning in the barn. Tankers should keep in mind that two anti-armor soldier class hot spots are the front window on the second floor in the barn and the hay shack to the right on the top of the hill as they have good cover and are both spawn locations.

Defending Force: Try and pop as many smoke grenades when being assaulted at either of the spawn locations. The Anti-Armor, Rifleman, Support, and Medic classes are the most effective as Tanks can be dispatched with the Anti-Armor, Medics and tier 2 Riflemen can throw smoke and Support can lay down accurate fire. If you are spawning across the river between the two houses, try to take cover behind the outhouse and then try and flee to the graveyard en masse as Enemy snipers and Support gunners will have too many targets to keep firing on. If you do get across, try and hide in the middle of the town or hop in a tank and use it against the enemy armor and infantry.

If you are spawning by the barn, Smoke grenades are extremely necessary as you are being held in a very small area surrounded by tanks. Usually the only option is the destroy and enemy Sherman and run to one of the Sherman tank spawn points so you can use it to retreat down the Tree covered road while firing the main canon and coaxial machine gun to eliminate any attacking threats. Retreat to the wheat field as this can be a temporary spawn with the only downside being it doesn't have much solid cover except for a horse sty and a partially destroyed cobblestone wall. It does however offer excellent concealment in the wheat that can hide a large anti-armor force and even soft skinned vehicles if parked in back.

Vehicles

There are four tanks (two American Sherman, two German Panzer IV's, North-Western and South-Eastern sides respectively), two cars (one German Kubelwagen and one American Jeep, on the western and eastern respectively) and on Capture the Flag, two motorcycles are added in the level (one on the northern and southern sides).

Trivia

  • Poisson is French for Fishbone.
  • You cannot drive motorcycles or jeeps below the bridge.
  • Across from the barn, there is a large rubble mound and a telephone pole. If you go into the house next to the pole and go to the blown wall facing the pole you can access the roof by jumping on the oddly shaped wall. From the roof you can see into the town and jump into a tree overlooking a blue truck.
