— Description

The R70 Ajax is a light machine gun featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops III that was added in the July 28, 2016 update. It is obtainable through Supply Drops in the Black Market.

Unlike other weapons, the R70 Ajax does not have a reloadable magazine, nor does it have any magazine-altering attachments including Fast Mags or Extended Mags. Instead, it slowly 3D prints bullets directly into the weapon (similarly to the IMR from Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but in the magazine rather than the reserve ammo), essentially giving the weapon an endless supply of ammunition.

There is a delay of approximately half a second between when the gun stops firing and when the 3D Printer activates. Should the weapon's ammo deplete completely, there is an overheat delay before the weapon can resume firing. The weapon prints about three bullets per second, therefore it takes 16 seconds to fully print the magazine, making it the slowest 'reloading' weapon in the entire franchise.

It is worthy to note that the weapon will keep printing even when the player is using another weapon, equipment or scorestreaks, making it a viable option to use Overkill to have a back-up weapon while leaving the R70 Ajax to reload itself.

Because of its unlimited ammo and lack of a traditional magazine, the perk Scavenger does not give any benefit to this weapon. It may still be used to supply the player with equipment and secondary weapon ammo, however. Interestingly, walking over another R70 Ajax on the ground transfers its magazine's contents to the player's.
