Relics appear in Extinction mode. They are first unlocked when the player prestiges in Extinction; upon reaching Prestige 1, Rank 1, the player will then be able to equip any one Relic in the Loadout menu. Each time the player Prestiges, up to Prestige 10, they can equip an additional Relic. Each Relic equipped increases the score by 20%. The player can equip all ten relics at once upon reaching Prestige level 10.

Relics[]

  • Take More Damage - Players take more damage when injured. (Approximately 25% increased damage)
  • Pistols Only - Weapon purchases are not allowed. (Players also cannot pick up free customized weapons found in lockers, the Venom-X, or the NX-1 Disruptor)
  • Smaller Wallet - Earn and carry less cash. ($3000 Maximum cash and 75% money earned)
  • Mortal - No Class selection available.
  • Do Less Damage - Inflict less damage against the aliens. (Approximately 33% less damage dealt to all aliens)
  • Fragile - Slow health regeneration, no regeneration while sprinting, and falling damage is enabled.
  • Stand Your Ground - Move slower. No reloading while sprinting.
  • No Machines - No Equalizers or Strike Packages available.
  • Limited Ammo - Ammo refills and weapon pickups will give you less ammo.
  • Earn Your Keep - No Ammo Type and Team Support items available and no scavenging, crafting, or pickups from deployed boxes.[1]

Note that all Relics only affect the player with the Relic equipped. For example, if the Smaller Wallet Relic is in play, only the player with the Relic will earn and carry less cash. All the other players in the session will have $6000 maximum, unless they too are using the Smaller Wallet Relic, or if they have upgraded their engineer ability to the max for $8000, if they are using it.

If Earn Your Keep and Pistols Only are both active, the player is able to buy ammo for $1500 at any weapon drop. It will say "Pistol Beast: Ammo $1500" when near the buy.

Certain relics are easier to use under certain conditions. For instance, Limited Ammo becomes much easier to play with if the player makes good use of three weapons and uses them equally, instead of relying on just one weapon to do most of the work. Limited Ammo is also much easier to live with in solo play, as the player will have more money to provide his/her own ammunition. Do Less Damage can be mitigated by using the Weapon Speciaist, and Smaller Wallet can be mitigated by fully upgrading the Engineer class.

Making active use of relics is very helpful for players looking to prestige quickly, as the faster acquisition of points allows players to level up more quickly. Making use of relics is also good for attaining high scores on maps. Even if the player's in-match performance worsens through less kills and more downs, the score gained from using multiple relics more than makes up for it, especially if the player can find a combination of relics that they can comfortably complete missions with. Using relics will also help the player accrue bonus Teeth, allowing them to gain quicker access to Armory upgrades.

Because of the aforementioned benefits, players will often be using relics, especially players at lower prestige levels.

Trivia[]

  • Stand Your Ground allows players to reload cancel via sprinting, as otherwise, On the Go is enabled by default, which restricts it.
