Rightful King is a short story, mainly focused as a prequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops II exclusive to Amazon Kindle. The book documents the main antagonist, Raul Menendez, in his early years and later, his rise to becoming the leader of Cordis Die. This book is partially linked to the 1980's part of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.[source needed]

Plot

In the year 1973 at the heart of Managua, Nicaragua, 10-year-old Raul Menendez lives in a poor area with his sister Josefina a year after a major earthquake. He sees that she is almost out of morphine, and he leaves his house to get her more. He kills a group of dogs with a revolver to obtain painkillers and medicinal supplies that are behind them and brings them back to Josefina. Meanwhile Josefina sees a man killed in her apartment, she then smells burning and pulls open her doors to see that a raid has burned down her apartment and she quickly trys to find his older brother when a large part of rubble falls which cripples her. Two minutes later Raul Menendez sees his apartment destroyed and remembers Josefina. He rushes inside to see some rubble and someone's handing out. Knowing who it is, Menendez pulls the rubble and finds his sister. He is about to take her heart pendant when Josefina says, "Don't!". Setting the end of the story and Call of Duty: Black Ops II's start.
