Biography[]
Rin Yoshida undergoes a training session with 2 Reaper robots, overseen by Tiangu. Her mind lingers on the trouble surrounding the company, leading to her being cut on the cheek by one of the Reapers. As Tiangu chides her for being distracted, Rin proceeds to decapitate both Reapers swiftly. She tells Tiangu that she believes she has underestimated someone, and is now paying for that error.
Tiangu cites a quote, "face things with calm, without tension or recklessness, your spirited settled and unbiased", reminding Rin that she has faced such contests before and bested them each time, and wonders what makes the current one different. Rin iterates that outside forces are involving themselves in her affairs; those who claim friendship but whose ambitions endanger not only Kurohana, but the whole of Japan as well.
Just then, 2 suited agents arrive to inform Rin that Hidora Kai, Satsumebachi and their accomplice Jun Takeshi have infiltrated the building they're in. Rin orders them to gather everyone they have, planning to face them in the atrium.
Later, in the atrium, Nyx and a troop of soldiers take out Rin's security detail, and Hidora announces that he has been given consent by the Yakuza elders to 'relieve her of her duty'. Rin decides that she has to face him and not let him pull her like a tick from her own office, which Tiangu expresses concern about. He asks what will happen if she falls, and Rin orders him to kill Hidora.
Rin then confronts Hidora, declaring that she built Kurohana from nothing, and none of the 'old men' (referring to the Yakuza elders) with their stinking breath and bad suits did it, nor did any lapdogs for Atlas. She lunges at Hidora with her sword, but he quickly defends himself with his Sais. As they clash, Hidora proclaims that he had been preparing for this fight, for facing Rin herself, before disarming her of her sword and kicking her to the ground. Hidora declares that the "Black Lily" has been bested, and there was to be no other outcome.
But before Hidora can finish off Rin, Sparrowhawks arrive to assist her, knocking Hidora aside and opening fire on his troops. Recovering, Rin orders her remaining security detail and Sparrowhawk to kill Hidora, who flees by jumping out of a nearby window. Rin derides him for being a coward, before Sparrowhawk declares to Rin that they are no longer assassins, as they have chosen another path--they are Phantoms now, and deliver a message from the Phantom Corps.
Soon after, Rin relays a message to Dusk about the recent turn of events, and promises to have more information for her soon. Rin soon allies with the Phantom Corps, which helps them seek out Dr. Mendelsohn and infiltrate the Atlas-hosted summit on Memnos Island. With Dusk and Kestrel also present at the summit, the former finds Ether and David Mason, and asks Kestrel to help them, stating that it is Rin's wish that she do so.
Shadowfall later meets with Rin, explaining how she managed to get the Sparrowhawks to join her side, in the Phantom Corps. Rin expresses gratitude for it, and asks about Dusk's condition, knowing she had been injured in her mission on Memnos Island. Shadowfall informs her that Dusk is recovering well, and she asks about Jun Takeshi. It is revealed that Rin had met with Takeshi several days prior, and she used a bottle of poisoned sake to kill him--the sake having been the same one used by a subordinate of the first boss of the Yakuza clan Rin was born to.
Nonetheless, Rin does not forget her debts to those who have aided her, and Shadowfall tells Rin that one of them requires medical care and believes Rin will be able to provide it. However, Rin reminds her that Kurohana is an arms manufacturer and not a hospital, wondering how she could provide. Deadman steps up and requests for Rin to make a new cybernetic limb for him, knowing Rin had made one herself that is better than anything on the market.
Later on, Hidora Kai would return with a gang of Yakuza soldiers. They would damage a mountain using FHJ-18's, causing debris to fall down on Rin's village. The Sparrowhawks deploy to fight off Hidora's forces but Hidora manages to make his way to Rin. Just then, Deadman with newly improved cybernetics courtesy of Rin, arrives just in time to defeat Hidora, causing the latter to flee.
Sometime later, Rin would send Urban Tracker to Krai to investigate the Tontine's activities there. Rin had deployed the Sparrowhawks to distract Krai's security forces while Urban Tracker dropped into the area with Kumo Chan.
