The Russian Airborne Troops or VDV (from "Vozdushno-Desantnye Voiska"; Air-landing Forces) is an arm of service of the Russian Military. The VDV was formed in the 1930s prior to World War II. Because they deployed originally from AN-124's they are likely from the 61st Air Army which uses the AN-124 in the same way.
