"An anti-government protest in this quaint coastal Spanish town grew out of control and forced a military shutdown."
— Map Description

Seaside is a multiplayer map featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Seaside is also available in Call of Duty: Mobile and was added on August 18th, 2023 as part of the Season 7: Heat Wave update.

The map is set within a Spanish city in the aftermath of an anti-government protest.

Overview[]

Seaside is a medium-small map that plays fast with a central lane sloping from west to east, taking you past a water fountain and through a destroyed church. Narrow paths on either side escort you through wine cellars, coffee shops, and delis in this idyllic coastal town. There's plenty of tanks and monuments scattered round the map which make for great cover, along with a tower that oversees the entire middle courtyard.

Trivia[]

  • According to Dan Bunting, Seaside was one of the first maps they started building for Black Ops 4.[1]
  • At the start of a match, there is a flock of pigeons that fly away in one of the spawns.
  • According to several signs and calendars throughout the map, Seaside takes place during 2040. Additionally, there are signs which reference the festival happening in 2030, 2031, 2036 and 2039.
  • In pre-alpha gameplay, an arch-way can be seen with the word "Valencia", implying the map is (or was) set within Valencia.
  • In one of the spawns, there is a small stage with signs from protesters on the ground. It can be assumed that the protest in Seaside was to do with technology, and not necessarily the government as the description states.
  • There was a cut Specialist mission called Breaker which showcased the events of Seaside's backstory as it happened. During the level, bombs were being exploded throughout the city by terrorists, causing chaos within the streets. At the start of the mission, the Player is tasked with finding the CEO of Aquilius.
  • If Seaside is loaded up using Theater Mode, you can clip through some rocks under the bridge using free cam to find an unused monument inside the map.
  • The outside porch of the sea food shop (known as Espinas de Pescado) was originally blocked off in pre-alpha gameplay.
