"A mansion with a diabolical past, caught in an Appalachian apocalypse. Free its captive souls. Come face to face with a synthetic mind. Confront a tyrant."
— Mission Briefing

Shattered Veil is a Zombies map featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The map was released on April 2nd, 2025 as part of the Season Three update.

Overview[]

Shattered Veil is set at Sam Colton Hall, a mansion in Liberty Falls with a dark history that Project Janus has since converted into a command center.

After the former operatives of Requiem and Maya Aguinaldo obtain the Sentinel Artifact at the abandoned excavation site in Principality of Avalon, the group heads to a large Mansion near Liberty Falls to assist S.A.M. and same time they attempt to confront Edward Richtofen at his base of operations.

The map is primarily set in the mansion itself as well as the surrounding grounds. The map also contains an underground lab facility, in which S.A.M.'s mainframe is located. The mansion itself also has some hidden rooms which the player must unlock in ways other than simply purchasing their doors. Players can also access Liminal Spaces, rooms replicating a different period of time and contained within another dimension.

Shattered Veil sees the return of multiple Zombies staples, including the Double Tap Root Beer Perk-a-Cola and the Wunderwaffe DG-2 and Ray Gun Mark II Wonder Weapons. The Ray Gun Mark II in particular can also be upgraded into three possible variants, all with unique functions and abilities.

The map is also host to various new enemies the player must face, including Toxic Zombies, Elder Disciples, and the Z-Rex.

Cutscenes[]

Penultimate Cutscene Transcript

Within a liminal pocket, Edward "Eddie" Richtofen sits on the end of a bed and closely inspects a mysterious device in his hand. Suddenly, Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mackenzie Carver and Maya Aguinaldo are teleported in the room. Richtofen glances at the crew in dismay and shakes his head in disapproval.

Richtofen: You idiots gave her the Sentinel Artifact, didn't you?

Richtofen turns to face the four as Weaver approaches him, aiming his Ray Gun Mark II at him.

Weaver: This has been a long time coming, Richtofen.

Richtofen stands up from the bed and begins to pace in front of the four.

Richtofen: Yes, yes it has. A whole decade. Ten years since my wife and child were killed in a botched hit intended for me. Burned alive in a fire set by an inept, one-eyed CIA assassin...

Weaver, Grey and Maya stare at Richtofen angrily, who looks directlty at Grey.

Richtofen: ...with help from his German accomplice.

Richtofen looks back at Weaver briefly and turns away from the four. Weaver quickly realizes what Richtofen was referring to.

Weaver: (shaken) My God. Maxis and I... we killed your family?

Richtofen doesn't respond.

Weaver: You knew. The whole time we were working for Requiem... you knew.

Richtofen: It's why you were hand-picked... (turns around to Weaver and the group, angrily) ...kept where I could see you, kept under my thumb. At least Maxis proved useful. Everything I've done - Requiem, Project Janus, S.A.M. - All of it... just to fix your murderous fuck-up and bring Mary and Samuel back from the dead! And now you have lost one thing that can actually do it!

Richtofen collects himself and walks away as Weaver and Grey share a glance with one another. Richtofen walks to the other side of the room and unveils the device in his hand to the group.

Richtofen: With this device, Josiah Shem accidentally shattered spacetime. I used it as the basis for my technology to access liminal spaces so we could feed the Artifact. Now... You can either use that to get your petty revenge...

Weaver briefly inspects his Ray Gun Mark II.

Richtofen: Or, to get us the hell out of here.

Richtofen places the device on a painting, causing the device to hover in place and radiate with energy. Weaver momentarily hestitates before deciding to aim his Ray Gun Mark II at the device. He fires a shot at it, causing the screen to go white. The scene returns to the group fighting a horde of zombies in the Grand Foyer as energy begins to circle around the Tyrannosaurus fossil in the background. Carver and Weaver defend the others with their weapons, though a zombie manages to latch onto Carver from behind. Richtofen manages to rip the zombie off of Carver and throws it to the ground, allowing Weaver to finish it off. Just then, Weaver and Richtofen are knocked off their feet by a mysterious blast. Weaver aims his weapon at the source, but quickly stops and runs out the front door with Richtofen.

Weaver: That thing can't be part of our plan!

The five run into the Motor Pool as the fossil, now reanimated into the Z-Rex, breaks through the door and chases after them.

Richtofen: Residual temporal energy.

The Z-Rex tries to attack Richtofen but misses, plowing into the ground.

Richtofen: It's a real bitch!

Richtofen dives into a vehicle with the others as the Z-Rex bites into the front of it. The Z-Rex flings the vehicle into the air, sending it into a nearby ravine. Richtofen is ejected from the vehicle and rolls out of the way before it can crush him, leaving him on a small incline with a SVD sniper rifle. The wreck comes to a stop at the bottom of the ravine as Richtofen arms himself with the sniper. Maya helps Grey from the wreck while Carver helps Weaver. The four run away from the vehicle as the Z-Rex looks down at them from above before leaping onto the wrecked vehicle and letting out a roar.

Ending Cutscene Transcript

Richtofen struggles to climb out of the ravine and nearly loses his grip when Carver intervenes and saves him. Carver helps pull him up over the ledge, where he is confronted by the others. Carver and Richotfen collect themselves momentarily.

Richtofen: Thank you, Major.

Carver: Fuck you.

Richtofen: Fair enough. We're not friends. We never will be. But we are running out of time. The Aether reactors at Janus Towers must be close to melting down by now. Worse: I know what S.A.M. really intends to do with the Sentinel Artifact.

Weaver: She said she wants to bring back Maxis.

Richtofen: No. S.A.M. wants to be Maxis — to reconstitute and inhabit her body. She would have full control of the Dark Aether. Godlike power. She can still be stopped, but our window isn't long.

Richtofen briefly looks down behind him at the ravine.

Richtofen: So what's it going to be?

Carver: I trusted you once and look where that got me.

Weaver: I don't trust you at all. But a machine wearing Maxis's face?

Weaver glances at look at Grey.

Weaver: I'd die before I let that happen.

Grey gives a light nod of approval.

Carver: God dammit. Okay, okay.

Carver looks at the others before directing his attention at Richtofen.

Carver: You got a plan?

Richtofen walks toward an opening, where Janus Towers can be seen in the distance. He turns to face the group.

Richtofen: Always.

The emergency siren at Janus Towers rings out as Richtofen and the group begin their short trek over to the towers. An explosion rocks one of the towers as the camera pans up to frame the towers before fading to black.

Trivia[]

  • Liberty Falls can be observed outside the playable area of this map, particularly from the spawn area as well as when using aerial Scorestreaks. Interestingly, the Cemetery area next to the Church does not exist in this version of the map.
  • Both the Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton and S.A.M. will disappear after the Main Quest is completed.
  • A statue of an Aether Worm can be seen at the center of the Serpent Mound room.
  • When entering the Mainframe Chamber for the first time, S.A.M. may say "What time of night do you call this, young lady?". This quote is a reference to the play Romeo and Juliet.
