"Shigenori Ota was once a servant to the shackles of tyranny. One night, he chose to fight back. Since then, his struggle has never stopped. And until the war ends... it never will."
Born in 1924 as a descendant of samurai, Shigenori Ota was conscripted into the Imperial Japanese Navy and took part in the invasion of New Guinea. There, Ota witnessed atrocities committed by his fellow soldiers and commander, and was frequently abused by the latter. After this, Ota was falsely charged for desertion and sentenced to death by firing squad.[3] With the knowledge that he would become a pariah to the Japanese, Ota rebelled against his superior and went on the run, eventually turning himself in to the Allied forces.
At some point in time, he would meet his former commanding officer on the battlefield again and killed him in a sword clash.
Shigenori's hobbies include photography, travel, and reading.
Prior to the 1.08 Title Update for Season One, Shigenori's katana in the Iaijutsu finishing move was still inside of its sheath when used. This was fixed later in a update.
Shigenori's I'll Never Lose quip was incorrectly quoted as 決して 負けません (Kesshite makemasen) in Warzone.
This was later patched; the text now reads in English.
