Skeletons, also known as Spartoi in Ancient Evil, are a type of enemy and Power-Up that appear in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombie modes. They are present in the maps Dead Ops Arcade 2: Cyber's Avengening, Der Eisendrache, Rave in the Redwoods, The Beast From Beyond, Ancient Evil and Dead Ops Arcade 3: Rise of the Mamaback.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III[]
Skeletons appear in Black Ops III's Dead Ops Arcade II: Cyber's Avengening as both an enemy and Power-Up. As a Power-Up, they function as a "living monkey bomb", attracting Zombies and dealing damage to them. Alongside that, Skeletons appear in the Room of Fate, wielding a cutlass, where they will chase the players in an attempt to prevent them from getting the Fates.
They later appear in Der Eisendrache as an easter egg that makes it possible to turn all Zombies into Skeletons by shooting three skulls that are hidden throughout the map. They are also encountered while doing the main easter egg, during the boss fight against the Keeper, replacing Zombies as the fodder enemy.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare[]
In Rave in the Redwoods as well the Mephistopheles boss battle. The Skeletons appears as the normal enemies during the boss fights. Skeletons also appear in Shaolin Shuffle, where they function as allies, summoned by the Snake's Style. They function identically the Skeleton's Power-Up from Black Ops III.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4[]
In Ancient Evil, they are Enhanced class Zombies named Spartoi and appear as ancient Greek warriors in the underground city of Delphi. They are infused with Prima Materia, showing as crystalline growths throughout their bones. They can only be damaged via headshots as any attack without will cause them collapse in a heap and to resurrect nearby. They originated from Perseus' initial venture into Delphi and the initial activation of the Sentinel Artifact.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War[]
Skeletons appear again in Black Ops Cold War as an enemy within the Zombies map, Dead Ops Arcade 3: Rise of the Mamaback. Alongside that, a Skeleton named the Skeleton King appears as a boss within the same map.
Trivia[]
- The Spartoi in Ancient Evil, as well as their animations (meant to resemble stop-motion) are a homage to the skeleton warriors made by Ray Harryhausen for the 1963 movie Jason and the Argonauts.
