This perk is commonly used in tandem with weapons with relatively slow reload times, such as shotguns and light machine guns. As these weapons leave the player vulnerable, especially in close quarters combat and Free-for-All matches, players may not have the chance to reload before engaging another enemy. However, the first shell loaded into the W1200 or M1014 shotguns will not receive the perk's full benefit (+50% and +10%, respectively).

The perk Sleight of Hand is useful for two very different situations. First off, as stated above, this perk is excellent for a player who does not want to reload often with weapons having a huge ammo capacity, such as the MG42 or the Browning M1919. This way, the long reload time is sliced in half and the player does not have to wait as long until they can start firing again. The second way this perk is used effectively is with weapons with low ammo capacities that don't have very long reload times such as the FG42 or the Double-barreled shotgun. The Pro version of this perk halves the time needed to aim down the sights, and is unlocked by getting 120 kills with a class using Sleight of Hand. This benefit is ideal for quick-scoping with sniper rifles, as the time spent to bring up the rifle is drastically reduced. Likewise, it is a useful pro perk for LMGs, as they possess the slowest ADS time. This effect stacks with Lightweight Pro's faster aim-after-sprint ability.
+
The Pro version of this perk decreases the time needed to aim down the sights by 33%, and is unlocked by getting 120 total kills with classes using Sleight of Hand. It is a powerful pro perk for light machine guns and sniper rifles, as their time to aim down sights is longer than other weapons.

The benefits of this perk are debatable with weapons that have low ammo capacities or weapons that have a high rate of fire, such as most SMGs and the F2000, as other Tier One Perks, such as Scavenger or One Man Army will grant an increase in ammo. However, there are many players who favor Sleight of Hand simply for the Pro effect of halving ADS time, as this can (and often does) make the difference between getting a kill and being killed. Furthermore, the Pro effect can actually help to conserve ammo by giving players more time to ADS their weapon in a pinch so that precious rounds need not be wasted through inaccurate hipfiring. Overall, Sleight of Hand is a very versatile and effective perk that can be effective in almost any setup.

Sleight of Hand's Perk-A-Cola counterpart Speed Cola returns in the Zombies game mode, appearing in every map apart from Nacht der Untoten and Dead Ops Arcade, it is identical to what it was in World at War.
Sleight of Hand is also in Zombies in every map except Nacht der Untoten and Dead Ops Arcade, but it is known as Speed Cola. When bought, it has the same effects as the multiplayer version. It costs 3000 points, which makes it the second most expensive Perk-A-Cola after Mule Kick, and the power must be turned on to buy it, except in Moon. Like every other Perk-a-Cola, It's effect wears off when the player gets downed, but if one is revived, he is then able to buy it back. It is necessary to have at later rounds to fight off the increasing number of faster and more aggressive zombies, but not so important in the early rounds as there are fewer zombies in these rounds.

Sleight of Hand returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 as a Tier 1 perk. Sleight of Hand decreases the reload time for all weapons by 50%. It has a new Pro effect, allowing the player to switch weapons faster, similar to Scout Pro from Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Multiplayer
Sleight of Hand returns in Modern Warfare 3 as a Tier 1 perk. Sleight of Hand decreases the reload time for all weapons by 50%. It is most helpful with light machine guns as they have a very long reload time, and can take up to five seconds to reload on weapons like the PKP Pecheneg. It has a new Pro effect, allowing the player to switch weapons faster, similar to Scout Pro from Black Ops. However, due to a glitch, switching to and from attachments will only be sped up if the player is sprinting.
  +
  +
The Pro version is very helpful with weapons with a slow switch time (such as Light Machine Guns) or if you're carrying a machine pistol secondary (or any slow swapping secondary in general).
  +
  +
Special Ops
  +
Sleight of Hand appears in Survival Mode and in Special Ops Chaos.
  +

Survival Mode
Sleight of Hand also appears in Survival Mode, being unlocked at the max level of 50. It can be purchased as a Perk Care Package from the Air Support armory for $5000 via airdrop. It is considered the most useful perk out of the five available, hence its late unlock.
  +
Special Ops Chaos
Sleight of Hand is granted to the player after a combo multiplier of 10.

Sleight of Hand returns as a weapon perk in Modern Warfare. It only affects the weapon that has it, unlike previous games that affects all weapons in the loadout.
  +
  +
Like in Ghosts, Sleight of Hand will change the animation set for some weapons. However, the number of weapons with different animations has been expanded and more drastic alterations to the animations have been made. Examples include:
  +
*Reloading the M4A1 will always show the magazine being dropped, the empty reload shows the bolt release being pressed instead of being slapped with the palm. Similar Sleight of Hand reloads can also be seen on the M13 and the FN SCAR.
  +
*The tactical reload for the AK-47 always shows the player kicking out the old magazine with a new one.
  +
*The tactical reload for the FAL shows the player kicking out the old magazine with a new one. The empty reload shows the player utilizing the bolt release instead of pulling the charging handle.
  +
*Reloading the Model 680 will show the player inserting the shells with the weapon flipped upside down.
  +
*The empty reload for the Dragunov shows the player kicking out the old magazine with a new one while pulling the charging handle with an underhand technique, similar to the AK-47's base empty reload.
  +
*The empty reload for the M91 skips the chamber check process entirely.
  +
*Sleight of Hand reloads for all of the pistols (bar the .357) show the player dropping the magazines instead of retaining them. Empty reloads show the player hitting the slide release instead of racking the slide.
  +

  +
**When reloading an empty SA-805, the player manually removes the magazine and inserts the new one (just like the normal reload of a non-empty SA-805) instead of using the new magazine to quickly tap off the old one.

Sleight of Hand is a Tier Two perk in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, a Tier One perk in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified and Call of Duty: Online, a Speed perk in Call of Duty: Ghosts, and a weapon perk in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Overview

Sleight of Hand reduces the time spent reloading weapons by half. This perk is unlocked at level 20 in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, level 28 in Call of Duty: World at War, and from the start in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and at level 21 in Call of Duty: Online. Sleight of Hand also appears in Treyarch Zombies and Infinity Ward Zombies under the names Speed Cola and Quickies respectively, and under the attachments Fast Mag and Dual Mags in later instalments. In Call of Duty: Ghosts, it can be unlocked any time using Squad Points, and it takes 2 points to equip in Create-a-Soldier.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare & Modern Warfare Remastered

"Faster reloading."
— Perk description

This perk is commonly used in tandem with weapons with relatively slow reload times, such as shotguns and light machine guns. As these weapons leave the player vulnerable, especially in close quarters combat and Free-for-All matches, players may not have the chance to reload before engaging another enemy.

Old School Mode

Sleight of Hand appears in Old School Mode as one of the 6 perks available.

  • Ambush - Found in the middle of the main road, in between the two flaming tanks.
  • Backlot - Found directly to the west of the construction site, near the AK-47.
  • Bloc - Found in the north-westernmost corner of the map, along the north-eastern road, near the P90.
  • Broadcast - Found on the external rooftop, near the M14 and G36C, above the Desert Eagle.
  • Countdown - Found in the north-eastern corner of the map, in front of a fuel tanker.
  • Overgrown - Found in front of the giant gas tank near the RPG-7.

Call of Duty: World at War

Sleight of Hand is useful for two very different situations. This perk is excellent for a player who does not want to reload often with weapons having a huge ammo capacity, such as the MG42 or the Browning M1919. The long reload time is reduced by half and the player does not have to wait as long until they can start firing again. The second way this perk is used effectively is with weapons with low ammo capacities that do not have very long reload times such as the FG42 or the Double-barreled shotgun. Experienced players know that in close quarter maps, reloading can and often does cost one's life. That is why this second option, fast reload with a small ammo capacity, is crucial in staying alive and avoiding pointless deaths.

The perk is also available in the Zombies game mode under the name Speed Cola. It costs 3000 points and is denoted by a green version of the perk, rather than red.

This Perk can be Modified in the Developer Console using perk_weapReloadMultiplier *Number between 0 and 1*

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

As with World at War and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Sleight of Hand drastically reduces the time spent reloading. Once again, it is best used with support weapons with long reload times such as the MG4 and the RPD. Sleight of Hand is also useful with the new bullpup rifles (such as the TAR-21, F2000, FAMAS, and others) as bullpups all have slower reload times than regular rifles.

The Pro version of this perk decreases the time needed to aim down the sights by 33%, and is unlocked by getting 120 total kills with classes using Sleight of Hand. It is a powerful pro perk for light machine guns and sniper rifles, as their time to aim down sights is longer than other weapons.

The benefits of this perk are debatable with weapons that have low ammo capacities or weapons that have a high rate of fire, such as most submachine guns and the F2000, as other Tier One Perks such as Scavenger or One Man Army will grant an increase in ammo. However, there are many players who favor Sleight of Hand simply for the Pro effect of decreasing ADS time, as this can (and often does) make the difference between getting a kill and being killed. Furthermore, the Pro effect can actually help to conserve ammo by giving players more time to ADS their weapon in a pinch so that precious rounds need not be wasted through inaccurate hip firing. Overall, Sleight of Hand is a very versatile and effective perk that can be effective in almost any setup.

In order to complete the final challenge, "Sleight of Hand Pro: VI," players must get 750 kills while using this perk.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Sleight of Hand returns as a Tier 2 perk Black Ops. It is almost unchanged from its Modern Warfare 2 version.

Overview

Sleight of Hand decreases the reload time for all weapons by 50%. Its pro version decreases the time it takes to aim down sights on all weapons excluding sniper rifles, to prevent quick scoping.

Pro Challenges

  • Aiming Kills: Get 150 kills when aiming down sights.
  • Reload Kills: Kill an enemy within 5 seconds of reloading 30 times.
  • Fast Hands Kills: Reload and finish off the enemy player you wounded 10 times.

Zombies

Sleight of Hand's Perk-A-Cola counterpart Speed Cola returns in the Zombies game mode, appearing in every map apart from Nacht der Untoten and Dead Ops Arcade, it is identical to what it was in World at War.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

The Pro version is very helpful with weapons with a slow switch time (such as Light Machine Guns) or if you're carrying a machine pistol secondary (or any slow swapping secondary in general).

Special Ops

Sleight of Hand appears in Survival Mode and in Special Ops Chaos.

Survival Mode

Sleight of Hand also appears in Survival Mode, being unlocked at the max level of 50. It can be purchased as a Perk Care Package from the Air Support armory for $5000 via airdrop. It is considered the most useful perk out of the five available, hence its late unlock.

Special Ops Chaos

Sleight of Hand is granted to the player after a combo multiplier of 10.

Call of Duty Online

"Faster reloading."
— In-game desciption.

Sleight of Hand makes a return in Call of Duty Online as a Tier 1 Perk, allowing faster reloading of weaponry.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Sleight of Hand returns as a weapon perk in Modern Warfare. It only affects the weapon that has it, unlike previous games that affects all weapons in the loadout.

Like in Ghosts, Sleight of Hand will change the animation set for some weapons. However, the number of weapons with different animations has been expanded and more drastic alterations to the animations have been made. Examples include:

  • Reloading the M4A1 will always show the magazine being dropped, the empty reload shows the bolt release being pressed instead of being slapped with the palm. Similar Sleight of Hand reloads can also be seen on the M13 and the FN SCAR.
  • The tactical reload for the AK-47 always shows the player kicking out the old magazine with a new one.
  • The tactical reload for the FAL shows the player kicking out the old magazine with a new one. The empty reload shows the player utilizing the bolt release instead of pulling the charging handle.
  • Reloading the Model 680 will show the player inserting the shells with the weapon flipped upside down.
  • The empty reload for the Dragunov shows the player kicking out the old magazine with a new one while pulling the charging handle with an underhand technique, similar to the AK-47's base empty reload.
  • The empty reload for the M91 skips the chamber check process entirely.
  • Sleight of Hand reloads for all of the pistols (bar the .357) show the player dropping the magazines instead of retaining them. Empty reloads show the player hitting the slide release instead of racking the slide.

Trivia

General

  • The third-person view of the player will still reload at normal speed while using Sleight of Hand, often resulting in them appearing to be reloading while shooting.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

  • Modern Warfare 2 features this perk on the Thumpers in Special Ops by default.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

  • In the official strategy guide of Black Ops at page 220, Sleight of Hand Pro is incorrectly written as "Slight of hand pro".

Call of Duty: Ghosts

  • In Ghosts, Sleight of Hand actually changes the reload animations on certain weapons (similarly to Fast Mag from Call of Duty: Black Ops II):
    • With the SC-2010, the player smacks the old magazine out with a new one.
    • When reloading an empty SA-805, the player manually removes the magazine and inserts the new one (just like the normal reload of a non-empty SA-805) instead of using the new magazine to quickly tap off the old one.
    • When reloading an empty Honey Badger, the bolt release is used instead of the charging handle.
    • The VKS is reloaded and cocked with the right hand instead of the left.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

  • In Traditional Chinese version, Sleight of Hand is translated as Fast Hands.
