- For special grenades in general, see Special Grenade.
Special Grenades x3 (also referred to as Flash Grenade x3, Stun Grenade x3, Signal Flare x3, or Tabun Gas x3 in-game) is a Tier One Perk in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered that gives a player three Flashbangs or three Stun Grenades for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and three Signal Flares, or three Tabun Gas Grenades in Call of Duty: World at War. This perk cannot be combined with Smoke Grenades in either game.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered[]
- "3 special grenades. No smoke."
- — Perk description
This perk is useful for getting the Point Guard challenge, as a teammate killing an enemy the player has stunned gives the player an assist. This perk can be incredibly useful when used with stun grenades on Shipment. The player can simply throw one stun at each of the other three corners of the map when they spawn, and there will be a great likelihood of stunning many enemies. This will get the player many assists. Timing throws well can keep an enemy (or enemies) pinned in a single spot for a fair amount of time. When combining this perk in corners with large groups, the player can be assured that they hit quite a few enemies in time, leaving them with enough time to charge and acquire kills. The player should exercise caution though, as many affected players start to shoot blindly to try and kill the thrower before they are killed themselves.
This perk is also useful if the player is aiming to complete Expert challenges for their weapons, as enemies affected by special grenades are rendered mostly helpless, allowing the player to take a clean, easy shot to the head.
Special Grenades x3 is available in the Heavy Gunner and Sniper default classes.

Call of Duty: World at War[]
Special Grenades x3 is a perk unlocked at Level 1. It is one of the more popular perks due to players being able to spam grenades over and over, oftentimes onto objective points or bomb sites. In Team Deathmatch, players use it less often over other Tier 1 perks like Bandolier. It is often overlooked by higher-level players, but it can be a life-saver in the right hands. It's great for causing visual cover, or poisioning other players. A common tactic is to chuck all 3 grenades onto a objective and take/ destroy it. Overall, it's a perk that has upsides and downsides. Most players will overlook it for better perks, but in the right hands and situation, it can turn the tide of a gunfight, or even an entire round on objective-based game modes.
