Speed Boost, also known as Lightning Bolt and Overdrive, is a Power-Up featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It appears in the Zombies maps Dead Ops Arcade, Dead Ops Arcade II: Cyber's Avengening, Dead Ops Arcade 3: Rise of the Mamaback respectfully. It also was available in Call of Duty: Warzone, added with the Season Four update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
Overview[]
In the Dead Ops series, it makes the player's character dash to where they are facing when they press the corresponding button. Like the Nuke, the number of Speed Boosts one can have is limited to 9, (10 with the Furious Feet Fate in Dead Ops Arcade 3). When using the Speed Boost, any Zombies that the player comes in contact with will be killed and the player will gain invincibility for three seconds.
If the player gets The Fate of Furious Feet, the player will automatically get 3 Speed Boosts per round, but only if the player has less than 3.
Speed Boosts will also appear randomly as item drops though are guaranteed to spawn in certain Bonus Areas.
In Warzone, the Speed Boost appears as Overdrive and can be acquired from Supply Boxes and when ran over by a player, is automatically equipped to said player. They last for 20 seconds, giving the player enough time to escape or encounter a gunfight. In Payload, the player is spawned in with Overdrive if they are too far away from the Payload. It became available in all Warzone modes with the Season Three update for Call of Duty: Vanguard.
