The Swarm is a Scorestreak featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Mobile and a Killstreak and Scorestreak in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

"Call in a swarm of lethal Hunter Killer drones."
— Scorestreak description.

The Swarm requires a streak of 1900 points and is the most expensive Scorestreak in the game. It calls in a swarm of Hunter Killer Drones to circle the map to attack enemy players. Further, the drones continue to kill spawning players as long as there are drones still present. The drones are visible in the sky throughout the map during the duration of the scorestreak, appearing as orange lights circling the map. They function entirely like normal Hunter Killer drones, attacking any players and air support they see. The Swarm can take down any hostile scorestreak with ease, as there are many Hunter Killer Drones available to target enemy scorestreaks. The most effective way to counter a Swarm is to activate an EMP Systems, which destroys every drone and ends the scorestreak.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

"Call in a swarm of lethal Hunter Killer drones."
— In-game description

The Swarm returns in Call of Duty: Mobile. It was added as part of the Season 6: The Heat update. It functions as it did in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, attacking every player and Scorestreak. Its duration appears to have been shortened considerably, possibly to maintain balance, as it usually kills one or two "waves" of respawning enemies before expiring. Thus, a Swarm can expire in as little as 20 seconds.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III[]

"Deploys a large number of mosquito drones to provide blanket coverage over the entire area."
— In-game description

The Swarm returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III as both Killstreak and Scorestreak functioning similarly to the previous games. It was added as part of the Season One update. Unlike Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Mobile, there appears to be no upper limit to how many drones can hit enemies.

If the deploying plane is hit by an EMP effect, the drones being deployed will lose targeting and start to divebomb into random positions.

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Black Ops II[]

  • The Swarm in the multiplayer reveal trailer looked very different from the final in-game Swarm. In the trailer the drones were not painted, had a different model (similar to the Chinese drones), and had a metallic look.
    • Also in the multiplayer reveal trailer, the drones appear much larger and fly randomly in straight lines all over the sky before diving straight down at enemies. This was probably changed to the Hunter Killer drones that circulate the map instead because they are much smaller and can kill enemies accurately within windows, openings, etc.
