"Full-auto submachine gun. Folding gun with Superior handling and a smaller ammo pool."
— Description

The Switchblade X9 is a submachine gun that was added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 with the Operation Grand Heist update. It is described as a suitcase weapon used for heists due to its folding and compact design.

Overview

Specifications

Multiplayer

The Switchblade X9 can be unlocked for use once the player reaches Tier 100 during Operation Grand Heist. The Switchblade X9 is a five-shot kill at close range, but will drop off to a nine-shot kill at longer distances. Paired with the weapon's low magazine size, the Switchblade X9 is very ineffective at mid-to-long range engagements unless the player's target is weakened. However, the Switchblade X9 can be quite effective at close range due to its fast fire rate, which can be increased with Rapid Fire and Rapid Fire II.

In order to make the best out of the weapon, attachments such as the Hybrid Mags and Stabilizer will help the weapon increase its ammo size and reduce sway if the player attempts to use the Switchblade X9 at longer ranges. The Grip can also help reduce recoil, and the Laser Sight will help improve the weapon’s hipfire accuracy.

Zombies

The Switchblade X9 was added to the Mystery Box on all maps, and can be customized in the Armory once the player unlocks the weapon. In the early rounds, the Switchblade X9 can be useful for building up points, but will begin to require a multitude of bullets in order to kill a zombie in the higher rounds. When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the eXcise n!n3f0ld, gaining an increased magazine of 40 shots and a reserve count of 400.

Trivia

  • Both the Armory HUD icon and the attachment unlock image of the Switchblade X9 in Zombies erroneously depicts the weapon with a longer barrel.
