Ava Jansen's nationality[]

As other editors have shown (myself included), there's a great deal of speculation about exactly what nationality Dr Jensen is. I, personally, believe it to be South African, but another editor(totally fairly) removed this as there had been several order edit attempts, all leading to different conclusions.

Here, I'll pose the case for South Africa. I welcome other editors to do the same below. Hopefully we can eventually come to a conclusion.

South Africa[]

In the act 1 story mission (as is cited on the page), Jansen says her parents were "ex-national intelligence", and that as a result, she's obviously firearms trained. There is no agency anywhere called verbatim "national intelligence", but from context, we can assume it is an agency akin to, say, the CIA.

What intelligence agencies fit this name then? Turkey - National Intelligence Organisation South Korea - National Intelligence Service South Africa - National Intelligence Agency Kenya - National Intelligence Service Greece - National Intelligence Service Democratic Republic of the Congo - National Intelligence Agency Mexico - National Intelligence Centre Spain - National Intelligence Centre

Now Jansen's accent obviously defines her as an anglophone, instantly ruling out many options here. The accent, I'll happily admit, sounds somewhat NZ or AUS, but neither have a remotely similar name (being the NZ intelligence service and the Australian Secret Intelligence Service). It is decently will known however that the Afrikaans accent (spoken by South Africans). Now I'll readily admit, it's not perfect if that's the accent the voice actress is trying to do, but it is known to be an unusual accent and difficult to master, so I could understand some initial trouble (just remember Peck and Ravenov's original voices). Oh, and additionally, Jansen is a Dutch surname - that is to say, a surname a white South African would likely have.

Leaving the floor open to anyone else. Hopefully we can actually get to the bottom of this! - Abjad115

When I said "Provide proof", I meant something within the game that confirms it rather than speculating on it once more. Attempting to figure it out via hints is also just bad. Using accents and names is also horrid. I'm from NZ and I don't sound Kiwi for example and some actors like Hugh Laurie are able to entirely mask accents. It's entirely why we go on proof from in game, even if we get moments like Andrei Nolan. Twigy (Talk) 18:24, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
