"Your presences means nothing here. This is not your domain. It is ours. Made of memories you will not corrupt."
— The Entity in the Act 4 Cutscene

The Entity is a character featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies. It serves as the main antagonist throughout Operation Deadbolt.

Biography[]

Origins[]

The entity is a dark shadow of Dr. Ava Jansen, born in the Dark Aether at the same time as her due to the latter's mother Samantha Maxis having a strong connection to the realm, essentially acting as a twin sister of sorts. Throughout her life, The Entity repeatedly attempted to reach out to her sister, but a full connection could not be made due to the dimensional barriers between their worlds. Jansen also began taking pills to suppress visions from The Entity.

Contacting her sister[]

When Victor Zakhaev opened a dimensional breach within Zaravan, Urzikstan, the forces of the Dark Aether spread throughout the entire city. However, Jansen, working with Operation Deadbolt, was able to contain this outbreak via The Neutralizer, which destroyed any Aetherium around it. However, it also opened a portal to the Dark Aether, of which The Entity was able to emerge and pull all soldiers around her towards her, including Jansen. While the soldiers were killed, The Entity contacted Jansen, causing her to scream and pass out, awakening with no memory of what happened.

Meeting Operation Deadbolt[]

The Entity began opening Dark Aether rifts, which Deadbolt sent their Strike Team to investigate. In the first, The Entity spoke to the Strike Team and had them power various alters. After they returned to their home world, the Entity reached out to Jansen once more. At the time, Jansen was researching Project Janus and the Office of Requiem, the latter of which Deadbolt’s consultant Sergei Ravenov was a part of. The Entity gave Jansen a brief nightmarish vision.

Manipulating Jansen[]

Over time, the Entity's hold over Jansen strengthened, and with the latter desiring to learn more about the truth, she was eventually lured into a Dark Aether rift. Ravenov and the strike team pursued and rescued Jansen from the Entity, who briefly possessed her. Upon returning to Deadbolt HQ, Ravenov revealed to Jansen the nature of the Entity, as well as her true birth parents, causing Jansen to lash out at him for hiding the truth for so many years.

Death[]

Jansen eventually reconciled with Ravenov and convinced him to join her in confronting The Entity. The strike team joined them and found various relics from Jansen’s childhood, the memories of which The Entity shared. Jansen cleansed these relics, freeing them of The Entity’s grip and severing their bond. The Entity repeatedly begged her sister to stop, stating that forces in the realm wanted to harm her due to her power, but Jansen refused, as their shared bond put her world at risk from the Dark Aether. As they confronted the Entity, Jansen used her powers to weaken her, and the team were able to destroy her. With the Entity's death, the Dark Aether forces began pulling back into their own world, and the Zaravan outbreak ended shortly after.
