"Thule awakens, and the deathly throne once again casts a shadow over the kingdoms of men."
— Mission Briefing

The Frozen Dawn is the sixth and final Nazi Zombies map in Call of Duty: WWII. It is part of the game's fourth DLC, Shadow War.

Overview[]

The Frozen Dawn is a medium sized map, taking place outside the entrance of and within the lost city of Thule in Antarctica.

Crash Site[]

The Crash Site is the large area of the map that players spawn in. It contains two doors leading to the Ice Caves: one which can be opened by a sacrifice stone from the Geistkraft of zombies, and another in which the player can buy for 750 Jolts. Lebenblitz can be bought for 500 Jolts (on Solo, or 1500 on Co-op), which is located directly in front of spawn, on a destroyed, flaming engine of a zeppelin. To the right of it, the M30 Luftwaffe Drilling can be bought for 500 Jolts. The Machine Pistol can also be bought for 500 Jolts, which is on a large stone facing opposite of the path leading to the sacrifice stone. A possible location for a Gear can be found here, as well as a Wire, a Radio, a Speaker, and a Überschanlle.

Ice Caves[]

The Ice Caves is a medium-sized area that contains two doors leading to the Thulian Archives (on the left), and to the Morgue (on the right), both of which can be bought for 1250 Jolts. In the middle of the area, the places for the four upgraded Thulian Weapons, the Talon of Lu'roth, the Fist of Tal'rek, the Fang of An'heist, and the Roar of Sang'ket, can be found here. To the left of the area, a Geistschild can be found, as well as a Blood Pool and a Type 100 that can be bought for 750 Jolts. To the right, a SVT-40 can be bought for 750 Jolts, and a Thulian Transport leading to the God-King's Citadel can be found. A possible Gear location can be found next to said Thulian Transport, and a Stone location can be found at the places of the four pedestal for the upgraded Thulian Weapons are, beside where the Fang of An'heist would be placed at.

Thulian Archives[]

The Thulian Archives and subareas are the largest section of The Frozen Dawn along with being central for obtaining the Talon of Lu'roth and completion of the Stormraven Trial. To the right from the passage leading out to the Ice Caves there is the M1 Garand Weapon Locker and the lectern for the missing books. Returning the books to said lectern and interacting with the wall to the direct left of it will open it, revealing a wall with the positions for the Orrery to be set at to obtain the Thulian Flail. Directly down the staircase and to the left is the door to the Passage which is locked behind a 750 Jolts purchase, while directly forwards is the Orrery itself with the Schnellblitz machine to the left of it and one of the Stones needed for the Bloodraven trial. Behind the Orrery is the door leading down to the Gearworks for the Orrery itself which is locked behind a 750 Jolts purchase while the Combat Shotgun Weapon Locker is to the right of that. And the rightmost passage from the Orrery leads to the Overlook which the door is locked behind a 1250 Jolts purchase.

There is also an alcove section that can be reached by utilising the Moon Orb of the Broken Flail and is primarily used in the Stormraven Trial, containing three Stormraven blood pools.

Gearworks[]

The Gearworks is a section underneath the Thulian Archive connected by the Passage and a doorway to the Archives itself. The Gearworks itself are utilised in moving the Orrery in the Archives and require the Gears that are located randomly placed in the map. Down from the staircase leading from the Thulian Archives is the STG44 Weapon Locker with the massive Gearworks itself being to the right. Directly forward from the STG44 Weapon Locker is the door leading to the Passage which is locked behind a 750 Jolts purchase.

Passage[]

The Passage connects both the Thulian Archives and the Gearworks in another way while also housing one of the Thulian Transports along with the button required to reach the Ubersprengen area within the Lost in Blood location. From the Thulian Archives entrance, the Waffe 28 Weapon Locker can be found along with a skull activated trap that when activated causes spikes to protrude from the ground below, running along the hallway where the Thulian Transport is. In the middle of the extended passage is the Thulian Transport and a button that can be interacted with and will allow the Thulian Transports to teleport players to the Lost in Blood location where the Ubersprengen is located. Continuing down the passage is the opposite activation for the spike trap and the door leading to the Gearworks which is locked at 750 Jolts.

Overlook[]

The Overlook area connects the Phylactery and the Thulian Archives by a bridge over a ravine that sits staring at a volcano hidden under the Antarctic ice. To the left of the Thulian Archives entrance is a broken Blood Pool, needing a Bloodraven Stone from the Morgue to repair it. Continuing down the stairs is the bridge itself that has a Geistkraft machine on the left side while the right side of it has the Laufenblitz machine and the primary location for the Stormraven trial along with a spawn location of one of the missing Books for the Thulian Archives, on the opposite side of the Laufenblitz machine. The staircase leading to the Phylactery has a spawn location for a missing Gear for the Gearworks, on the left side of where the staircase starts and the drop into the ravine. Up the staircase is the BAR Weapon Locker, a special Thulian Transport used to access the Dark Room and the doorway to the Phylactery which can be unlocked for 1250 Jolts.

Hidden behind the Blood Pool is a section that can only be accessed using the Talon of Lu'roth which is an extremely cramped area that has the M1941 Weapon Locker and a sacrifice stone.

Morgue[]

The Morgue offers a somewhat confined area that leads from the Ice Caves to the Phylactery. Within there is one of the Blood Pools used in the Bloodraven trial for the Thulian Shield and Roar of Sang'ket located against the leftmost wall. To the direct right of the Blood Pool is the Weapon Locker for the M1928 and a Geistschild machine with a guarantied spawn location of one of the Stones needed for the Stormraven trial and the Fist of Tal'rek behind it. Further along is the Faustblitz machine and the MP-40 Weapon Locker before the the route splits into two paths, a direct drop to the exit to the Phylactery which is locked at 1250 Jolts and has a spawn location of one of the Books needed for the Moonraven trial and the Talon of Lu'roth while the passage to the right leads to the same place but has a section for the Vintage MG42 Easter Egg and the Bloodraven Stone needed to repair the Blood Pool at the Overlook.

Phylactery[]

The Phylactery is rather open circular room housing the Forge required for the Deathraven trial and obtaining the Fang of An'heist. Within the Phylactery there are three exits leading to the Morge, Blood Altar and Overlook respectively. To the direct front of the Morgue entrance is a button to reactivate the Forge which starts the first steps of the Deathraven trial, while to the left along the wall is the FG 42 Weapon Locker and a Mystery Box location. Further along from that is a passageway to the Overlook that is locked at 1250 Jolts and has the Schildblitz machine while behind the passageway itself is a staircase to the top of the forge. To the right of the passageway itself is the Grease Gun Weapon Locker and the enterance to the Blood Altar which can be unlocked for 1,000 Jolts.

Blood Altar[]

The area where the eponymous Blood Altar is located in an more empty and open cavern area but with extremely constrictive passageways leading down to the Altar itself. Directly in front of the entrance from the Phylactery is the Lee-Enfield Weapon Locker while the passage to the left leads to the primary area of the Blood Altar, which has two main pathways. Going to the right is a sacrifice stone, the Kugelblitz machine and the PPSh-41 Weapon Locker with a drop leading directly down to the Blood Altar. The left pathway leads down to a small alcove where a Book can be found along with the location of the Raven Claw after completion of its Easter Egg and main area where the Blood Altar sits. Around the Blood Altar is one of the Mystery Box locations, a Thulian Transport, one of the spawn locations for the Gears needed for the Gearworks and the Blood Altar itself which is central to the Bloodraven's Chosen trial and obtaining the Roar of Sang'ket.

Lost in Blood[]

Lost in Blood are sections of the map that are accessed via Thulian Transports that house the multitude of trials along with the Ubersprengen machine. Only three Transports will be able to access the Ubersprengen area of Lost in Blood and only if the button in the Passage is actively glowing red. After enough time has passed or the current trial has been passed, the Thulian Transport animation will play again, submerging the player in blood once more and returning them to one of the Thulian Transports.

If the Ubersprengen was accessed, even if a trial is done beforehand, upon returning to the main map, two Corpse Eaters will spawn into the map.

Trial of the Moonraven[]

Accessed by throwing the Moon Orb at the center globe of the Orrery after the "Witness the Cosmos" step of the Moonraven Trial has been completed. It places players in a similar trial platform but with the Talon of Lu'roth in the center and a constellation glowing orange on the opposite wall. When the Talon of Lu'roth is picked up, three zombies will drop down and after they are killed, the constellation will become a wall of fire which the player must avoid using the Talon of Lu'roth. This process is done twice before the player is teleported back to the alcove above the Orrery in the Thulian Archives.

Trial of the Deathraven[]

Accessed by using a Thulian Transport after the Fang of An'heist has been tempered in the forge, the player will be placed in an arena surrounded by Wüstlings and Corpse Eaters with the Fang of An'heist in the center. Picking up the Fang will start the trial and cause the outside of the arena to become electrified, causing damage if stood on for too long. After completion of the trial by killing all zombies in the arena or waiting down a timer, the player will have the same effects as if they had used the Thulian Transport normally, either placing them at the Ubersprengen or at another Thulian Transport.

Trial of the Bloodraven[]

Accessed by being downed in the Blood Altar itself after solving the Blood Pool riddles, the player will start being in a downed state with no equipment viable on a sacrifice stone with the Roar of Sang'ket floating above it. Attempting to pick up the Roar of Sang'ket will revive the player and equip them with the Roar itself to start the final part of the trial. Completion of the trial will send the player back to Blood Altar with the Roar of Sang'ket and everything they had equipped prior to being downed, including perks.

Trial of the Stormraven[]

Accessed by completing the Stormraven puzzle inbetween the Phylactery and Blood Altar before heading to the Overlook to a newly opened pathway towards the pyramid created of fog and electricity. Completing this small maze will send the player to the Trial of the Stormraven arena where the surrounding rocks are electrified and the Fist of Tal'rek within the center. Picking it up will start the Trial which is simply a test of the throwing ability of the Fist of Tal'rek with shielded zombies spawning in via thunder strikes. Completion of the Trial will teleport the player back to the Overlook before the platforms with the Fist of Tal'rek in hand.

????????[]

???????? is a hidden area accessed by filling all three main sacrifice stones to the point where they are pulsing red and using the Thulian Transport that is close to the BAR Waffenbox that is now opened which costs 2,500 Jolts. Within the Dark Room vision is extremely limited and to exit the player must locate four nails located through out the room itself or wait out an invisible timer. Upon finding all four, a pillar will extend from the blood with the same plate that Blitz Machines have and upon placing the four nails to allow one to interact with it will preform the animation of using a Blitz Machine but with the message "Blood is Power", rewarding them with all six blitzes and returning them to the Transports. However if the player doesn't find all the nails or the correct pillar in time, they will be ejected out of the room in a similar fashion to the Ubersprengen area of Lost in Blood. After being ejected from ????????, the Thulian Transport will remain open but will only act like the others around the map.

God King's Citadel[]

Located by placing all four Raven Lord weapons on their respective pedestal and entering the now opened Thulian Transport to the right of the pedestals. The God King's Citadel houses the throne to the God King himself along with his corpse prior to his reawakening by a now possessed Vivian Harris with the completed Sword of Barbarossa. The Citadel starts with the Thulian Transport that is pressed against the only ice wall of the area. Around the transport are three sacrifice stone and the four Thulian melee weapons with a total of six stalagmites of ice across the ground of the Citadel, leading to the throne.
