The Haunting for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone was available between October 19th and November 2nd, 2021 during the Season Six update of Black Ops Cold War.[1]
Overview[]
The Haunting featured several new modes and content for both games. Several operator bundles were also released, including a new Operator, Ghostface.
Multiplayer[]
Within Multiplayer, three new game modes were available:
Care Packages could also appear as Scare Package which took the form of an orange Care Package with a smiley face on top of it and a large black handle around it.
Zombies[]
Within Zombies, every enemy would appear with a pumpkin head. Killing enemies could also drop Jack-O'-Lantern loot. Those drops rewarded players with high-end loot such as Aether Tool, Wonder Weapon, Scorestreak Support, Ammo Mod, Chalice from Bronze to Gold to upgrade the Pack-a-Punch level of their weapons from Level I to Level III, and Armor from Level 1 to Level 3. Mimics could also appear as Jack-O'-Lantern loot.
Like Multiplayer, Scare Packages could be found in both round-based maps and Outbreak, with Scare Packages appearing every 5 rounds on round-based maps, and randomly appearing in every Region on Outbreak where crates could normally be found. In Outbreak, Scare Packages could also spawn on top of a Mimic hidden as crate.
A new game mode was also released for Outbreak: Hallows’ Eve Outbreak.
Warzone[]

A new mode was released in Warzone, called Ghosts of Verdansk which took place on a night-time version of Verdansk '84 called Verdansk Halloween. The mode worked similarly to Zombie Royale.
Challenges[]
The Haunting had nine challenges between Black Ops Cold War multiplayer and Zombies and Warzone, and upon completion of either or sets of challenges the player would be awarded with the LAPA submachine gun.

- During The Haunting, the lobby music for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone was replaced by A Cold Wind Blows, the underscore of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies map, Call of the Dead.
- Two new songs played during Zombies gameplay:
- "A Howling We Will Go" by Frederick Jason Kron from the MX369 Halloween Screams album, used as a starting and game over song for round-based maps as well as the exfil song for Hallows' Eve Outbreak.
- "Halloween Nightmare" by Ronald Alan Mendelsohn from the MX369 Halloween Screams album, used as a starting and game over song for Outbreak as well as the song that plays during Hallows' Eve Outbreak.
- When a Jack-O'-Lantern drop spawned, a laugh could be heard for a few seconds.
