Toad was a Task Force 141 operative that appeared in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 mission, "Loose Ends".

Biography[]

Raid on Makarov's Safehouse[]

Toad appeared in "Loose Ends" as part of Sniper Team One alongside "Archer", providing overwatch for the main strike team consisting of "Ghost", "Roach", "Scarecrow", "Ozone", and four randomly named Task Force 141 operatives. As the strike team made their way toward Makarov's safehouse they were ambushed by an Inner Circle garrison force using anti-personnel mines and mortars, killing four members of the team, with Roach barely surviving, while the other members Ghost, Scarecrow, and Ozone repel the ambush.

As the four moved through the smoke to avoid the mortars, Toad and Archer provided sniper support from the ridge. After leaving the smoke and moving toward the safehouse, the four encountered two vehicles leaving through the main road, Toad and Archer then fired Javelin missiles destroying the vehicles.

During the defense of the safehouse, Toad and Archer continued to provide sniper support and additionally, information on incoming enemies. After the DSM had finished its download, Shepherd sent in an extraction force to meet the strike team at the exfil point. As revealed by radio chatter shortly after a mortar strike injured Roach, Shadow Company was aware of Toad and Archer's presence. They were both killed mere moments before Shepard's betrayal, leaving them unable to warn or save Ghost and Roach.

Trivia[]

  • Toad and Archer can be killed by the player in the beginning of the level, the easiest way to do so is to place a claymore near them and shoot it. Oddly, the player will still get sniper support, the trucks will be destroyed, and Archer still is heard over the radio.
    • Additionally, if the player kills them, their M14 EBRs can be picked up and used.
    • In the Campaign Remaster, this is not possible as killing them will always result in a friendly fire penalty.
  • Toad and Archer use M14 EBRs, but when they fire, it sounds like they use Interventions. This may be for dramatic effect.
  • If the player returns to the spawn point after the mortar fire stops, Toad and Archer will not be found. This is before Archer informs Ghost they are relocating. This is likely to save resources; as there is no point in putting fully animated and functional characters in a place the player is not supposed to be at that point in time.
