Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 won the award for Best Shooter at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards, beating off competition from Epic Games' Gears of War 3, Bethesda's Rage and DICE's Battlefield 3. The VGAs are an awards ceremony held every year in which the public decide who wins what; as such, the below may not be fully representative of what the games truly have to offer.
The rest of the awards ceremony was dominated by Bethesda's Game of the Year winner The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Rocksteady Studios's Batman: Arkham City, Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and Valve's Portal 2.
