The subject of this article appeared in Call of Duty: United Offensive.

Van Dyke was one of the men in the Dutch Resistance group along with De Leeuw, Goriss, Janssen, Smits and Van de Berg. They saved James Doyle after his B-17 Flying Fortress had been shot down over the Netherlands, their leader being Major Ingram (it is unclear whether Ingram was already a commanding officer of the SAS by the time of this mission). After Doyle joined their group, they continued their raid in order to blow up a train bridge, vital to the German war effort. However, he was shot by a German soldier while making his way to the bridge. He is never mentioned in the game again.

Trivia[]

  • His name would be accurate if it were spelled "Dijk". Furthermore, the prefix "van" is not capitalized in Dutch names.
  • The Dutch resistance men are among the few who can be seen wielding the Lee-Enfield in Call of Duty: United Offensive.
  • Van Dyke has the explosives to destroy the bridge. Once he is killed, Major Ingram tells James Doyle to take them and place them in the pillars.
  • His death is scripted, so he will die even if all the Germans are shot beforehand. Likewise, he can't die before that scripted moment, no matter how many times he is shot.
