"I don't remember the damn countersign all right? I'm just a runner! Don't shoot!"
— Vaughan's response to Dunn yelling "Star"

Private Vaughan is an Army Ranger seen in the level "Second Sun". When Sgt. Foley's squad is on the move after the EMP made Washington D.C. quiet, they come across Vaughan who is running around the city to tell any Rangers he comes across to head to "Whiskey Hotel" to help take it back from the Russians. He is nearly shot at when he stumbles upon Sgt. Foley's squad and doesn't respond to Cpl. Dunn's challenge; however, he admits he doesn't remember the countersign, possibly because, like Cpl. Dunn, he was extremely shaken up by the EMP blast.

After going up to Foley's squad, Vaughan reveals his assignment and gives Foley's squad theirs, and after a brief update, continues on his mission to alert others, he is not seen again for the rest of the game.

  • His appearance is randomly generated.
  • If the player tries to follow Vaughan as he goes to tell other U.S. forces, he will eventually vault over a crashed helicopter which the player can't do.
