Overview[]
Call of Duty: Warzone[]
Verdansk[]
Verdansk took place in Kastovia and was set between 2020 and 2021. The map supported up to 200 players depending on the modes and playlists but was played generally with 150 players.
During Season Four of Modern Warfare, a train track was added to the western part of Verdansk creating a tunnel near the Hospital. Several small shacks were also added onto the map but were locked to prevent players from entering them. In Season Five, the Stadium roof was destroyed, allowing players to access its interiors. Underground parking lots were also made available around the Stadium. The interiors of the Train Station also became available for the players. Several rappelling ropes were added to high buildings around the map such as the SNK building and the Art Museum in Tavorsk District or the Stadium. A freight train was also added which traveled around the train track added in Season Four. In Season Six, an underground metro system was added to the map, which allows for fast, relatively safe travel between areas of the map. A night-time version of Verdansk was also available during Season Six with the Haunting of Verdansk event.
With Season One of Black Ops Cold War, a new underground bunker was added beneath the western airport runway, accessible through a large hole in the ground or a small shed near the runway. The bunker uniquely contains several corridors and rooms. Multiple monitors display the same ICBM footage seen in Bunker 10. Several canisters of Nova 6 could be seen in one of the rooms.
With the release of Season Two of Black Ops Cold War, the Vodianoy, a ship previously seen near Rebirth Island crashed into Verdansk, creating a new location Shipwreck. Missiles silos were also added beneath or near Spomeniks. During the first two weeks of Season Two, zombies could be summoned and then eliminated at the Shipwreck to collect cash and armor. If all 40 zombies were killed, the final one to die would drop a Yellow Access Card, which could be used to open a Supply Box full of highly rare loot. Between March 11 and April 15, zombies moved into different locations, some of them gaining new abilities. Radiation zones started to appear where the zombies could be found previously. Season Two ended with the Destruction of Verdansk event which marked the end of Verdansk and its replacement with Verdansk '84.
Verdansk '84[]
The release of Season Three introduced a new version of Verdansk called Verdansk '84 which took place in the Soviet Union in 1984 and featured several new Point of Interests as well as drastically redesigned and renamed known locations. Among the new POIs are the Summit Complex and the Gora Viaduct which replaced the Gora Dam, the Kastovia Radar Array replaced the WHP Camp, the Plane Factory was added next to the Superstore. The Verdansk Arena was replaced by a smaller stadium being demolished, the Karst River Quarry was renamed Karst Salt Mine with parts of the mountain still present, the Verdansk Aiport and its interior were now intact and redesigned, the village in Krovnik Farmland was also redesigned. The spomeniks were replaced with missile hatches and various buildings were either removed or replaced. The metro stations were removed from the map while the western train tack and the circling freight train remained.
With the 80s Action Heroes event, ten survival camps were added throughout the map replacing several campsites as a reference to 1985 movie Rambo: First Blood Part II; the interior of Hangar 21 inside the Arklov Peak military base was changed into a CIA outpost; the government plaza in Downtown Tavorsk was changed as the SNK Tower and several other buildings were replaced with the Nakatomi Plaza from 1988 movie Die Hard. The parking garage of the tower as well as its first three floors, floors 30 to 34 and the roof became available to the players.
With Season Four, the survival camps and CIA outpost were removed while the Nakatomi Plaza remained and was renamed Downtown Tower, although the vault was now closed. Four crashed satellites were added to the map east of Farmland, on the Gora Bridge near Tavorsk District, next to the Gora river between Bloc 16 and Bloc 17, near the Karst river next to Bloc 18. Several Red Doors, first seen in the Black Ops Cold War campaign, were added around the maps and allowed players to teleport across the map to previously unreachable rooms which featured a chair in front of several TVs as well as various crates with loot called Stations going from Alpha to Mike. When a player crossed a door, numbers started to appear on the screen. With Season Four Reloaded, players could hear Vikhor "Stitch" Kuzmin and Russell Adler as they would walk through the doors. Some doors would teleport and deploy players around the map while others would teleport the players to the rooms. Some rooms featured a Supply Box covered with numbers offering more legendary loot and could also feature a Specialist Bonus rewarding players with all the Perks. Other rooms featured a Supply Box marked with the Perseus logo and would explode and release gas to hurt the players. After a door was used several times, it disappeared for the rest of a match.
The Season Five introduced nine Mobile Broadcast Stations that could be found around the map emitting noices and were used as part of the Numbers event. Seven piles of red shipping containers could also be found around Verdansk. The Red Doors were also updated to teleport the players in a corridor similarly to the one first seen in the Black Ops Cold War campaign mission Break on Through. Within the corridor, four doors were available and the players had to choose one of them within 30 seconds. Three of the doors would simply teleport and redeploy the players while the last one would send them to one of the rooms. If the player didn't choose a door before the timer ran out, they were teleported and redeployed back on the map witnessing a bell ringing among the numbers.
With Season Six, it was revealed that the shipping containers were used by Adler to drill into German bunkers under the city and set seismic charges to destroy Verdansk. The explosions destroyed the Stadium and leveled parts of Downtown Tavorsk, leaving massives fissures in the area. While most of the red shipping containers were destroyed, three piles remained and were used to access the bunkers with one located near Kastovia Radar Array, one near the Boneyard and the last one near the Airport Maintenance. In addition to the shipping containers, another entry for the bunkers were available next to rubbles and construction vehicles. A night-time version of Verdansk' 84 was also available during Season Six with the Haunting event. The Old Mines located west of the Verdansk Airport were opened as part of the Secrets of the Pacific event. Season Six ended with the Last Hours of Verdansk playlist event which marked the end of Verdansk '84 and its replacement with Caldera.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile[]
Verdansk is available since the first Limited Release for Warzone Mobile in November 2022. The map used the exact same layout and environement as the original Verdansk in Warzone.
During the Season One of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the map was updated and the northern part of Verdansk above the Stadium and the Verdansk Hospital became covered in snow.
Following the Season Five of Modern Warfare III, new major and smaller Point of Interests were added to Verdansk. Among them are the Government Building located between Boneyard and Train Station, and the Cliffside Base placed on top of the Gora Tunnel, west of Dam. Both buildings were later open following the Season Five Reloaded update of Modern Warfare III on August 21st, 2024. Another new POI is Zoo which is located right next to Park, south of Downtown. Inside Downtown, a new Construction Site on top of a skyscraper was added in lieu of the previous ground-level construction site. Only the top two floors are available. Near the Verdansk Hospital, a Train Wreck was added featuring several crashed carriages and vehicles. New smaller Outposts were also added around the map, with one near the Dam reservoir, another near the Airport Maintenance, and another one across Scrapyard, west of the map.
With the Season Three of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the map was updated to match the version released at the same time on Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, removing all the different POIs that were exclusive to Warzone Mobile.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0[]
With the Season Three of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Verdansk was added to Warzone 2.0, taking place once again in Kastovia. The map was remastered for the game while retaining the aesthetic and layout of the original Warzone version. Like the original map, the Stadium and Train Station interiors were inaccessible. The Stadium also featured a new roof with a bigger dome. Following the Season Three Reloaded update on May 1st, 2025, the eastern wing of the Train Station became open. Vertical ascenders were added around the map to match their original placement in Warzone. The freight train became active again, circling around the map.

Verdansk is surrounded by mountains with Arklov Peak located in the north-west part of the region. Two rivers run through the city, the Gora River in the west and the Karst River in the east. Both rivers flow into the Kastovian Sea in the south.
Easter Eggs and Secrets[]
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0[]
Bunkers[]
All 11 bunkers from the original Warzone map are also present in Warzone 2.0. Following an update May 15th, 2025, the bunkers became active and were able to be opened using either a code or an Access Card found in Supply Boxes. The bunkers themselves feature many Supply Boxes and loot.
The bunkers are divided into three categories: the bunkers that open with the Red Access Card, the bunkers that open with the Blue Access Card, and the bunkers that open with a code:
- Red Access Card:
- Bunker 04, Bunker 05, Bunker 06, Bunker 09
- Blue Access Card:
- Bunker 02, Bunker 07, Bunker 08
- Code:
- Bunker 00: TBD
- Bunker 01: 04222021 (referencing the Destruction of Verdansk on April 21st, 2021)
- Bunker 03: 30198805 (found on a poster in Atlas Superstore)
- Bunker 10: 31547206 (Warzone code but reversed)
Bunker 11[]
Bunker 11 requires a specific quest to be opened.
In multiple places around the map, a phone will ring. When interacting with the phone, a Russian Bunker Commander will speak before saying three numbers all in Russian. Each number corresponds to another specific phone around the map. Once all the phones have been interacted with, the Number Station Code can be entered by simply interacting with the keypad of Bunker 11 which will then open.
Like the other bunkers, Bunker 11 features many loot and Supply Boxes. Players can also acquire a Specialist Pack hidden inside a corridor. A console is also featured at the end of that corridor with a red button. Pressing the red button will clear smoke on the room on the other side revealing dirty bombs and nuclear warheads similar to the original map.
Sheds and Locked Rooms[]
Several sheds as well as locked rooms can be found around Verdansk.
Sheds[]
Three sheds can be found around the map that require a code to be opened. Each code can be found on notes inside TV Station, the notes themselves reference the Know Your History event from the original Warzone. The codes themselves are the reverse of the codes used in Warzone.
KNOW - XXXX - XXXXXXX
WZ-H8-13584927
XXXX - YOUR - XXXXXXX
WZ-F4-01859472
XXXX - XXXX - HISTOЯY

Storage Town Room[]
Inside Storage Town, a map of Verdansk can be seen with an area accross Karst River Quarry circled in red. Inside that area, outside the map, a Mysterious Key can be acquired after interacting with the crate. The key is used to unlock a room inside Storage Town. The room contains several booby traps that need to be defused. The room also contains a unique Supply Box and a note on a desk that says "I will not die a traitor".
Airport Subway Station[]
This quest is the same as the one added to the original Warzone map with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season Six. The quest became available after an update on May 15th, 2025.
Inside the Parliament Building in Downtown Tavorsk District, the players need to interact with the keypard behind the reception desk and enter the code 2179. Once the code is entered, the computer on the other side will display a series of four images interlaced with a series of four possible numbers (-2, -1, +1, +2). Each image matches a painting inside the building. Beneath each painting is a plaque with a Roman numeral. Following the order shown on screen, the players need to add the computer number with the Roman numeral to form a final 4-digit code.
The 4-digit code then needs to be entered on the computer. If done correctly the computer will briefly display the text "Subway Override Authorized". If the code was wrong however, all the doors of the building will be locked and gas will fill the room damaging and ultimately killing the players.
The players then needs to travel to the metro station inside the Verdansk International Airport and interact with the red button next to one of the locked entrance. Opening the subway entrance will reward the players with XP and loot. The players can also find a subway car on the rails with a Specialist Pack inside.
Notes and Callbacks[]
There are multiple easter-eggs and callbacks across Verdansk referencing events from the original Call of Duty: Warzone.
Inside a building in Lozoff Pass, the graffiti "Roze was here" can be seen on a wall near a corner, a reference to Rozlin "Roze" Helms's "Rook" skin whose were known to blend in the shadows.[1] A character crushed by a Loadout Drop can be found in Zhokov Boneyard, referencing the death of many players by their own Loadout Drops in the early days of Warzone.[2]
A crashed missile can be found in the TV Station Central Plaza, between TV Station and Verdansk Stadium, referencing The Destruction of Verdansk event.[2] Furthermore, a calendar featuring a still image of the nuclear explosion with the date April 22nd highlighted can also be found in the corridor leading to Bunker 01 in Junkyard.[3] On the shore near the Zordaya Prison Complex, several zombie corpses can be found alongside a ship's wheel. This is a reference to the Vodianoy which was available as a POI and featured zombies.[2]
A barred red door can be found inside a building in Karst River Quarry, referencing the Red Doors added into the map during Verdansk '84, to allow players to teleport to specific rooms as well as travel faster around the map. Inside the Verdansk Hospital, a vintage phone can be found on a bed referencing Vikhor "Stitch" Kuzmin torturing Russell Adler.
Following the Season Three Reloaded update on May 1st, 2025, many notes were added onto the map next to the location of many of the easter-eggs. The update also added several "5th Anniversary" posters of Verdansk, Rebirth Island, Ashika Island and Fortune's Keep inside the Verdansk Train Station alongside a note.
- Roze Was Here
- Loadout Drop
- Crashed Missile
- Zombies Corpses
- Red Door
- Prison Paddle

"Does nobody check their corners? I've been hiding here for days! They open the door and don't even shoot. I wish I could ask one after I've killed them, I just don't understand it, I'm in the dark here."
This note is found in the building of Lozoff Pass next to the Roze Was Here graffiti.
"By calling in this Loadout Drop you accept that the manufacturer is not liable for any misuse of the product leading to injury or death from above. Please read this aloud to any individuals located underneath the product."
This note is found next to the Loadout Drop in Boneyard.
"Don't forget to tighten the screws! Otherwise, the missile might not detonate, resulting in a catastrophic non-explosion that won't be the end of Verdansk.
- Ms. L (Supervisor)"
This note is found near the crashed missile in TV Station Plaza.
"Madame,
You may have received a letter just one day ago about your husband's death. Please disregard! I am delighted to inform you that he is, in fact, making a full recovery. He is awake, albeit disoriented, and already has quite an appetite. I believe he will be up and walking again in no time!
--- the remaining text is covered by blood ---"
This note is found on the barge next to the zombies corpses on the shore near the Zordaya Prison Complex.
"This door must remain closed due to unforeseen disappearances. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
- Administration Office"
This note is found in a building in Karst River Quarry.
"As thanks for your protection in here, I thought you'd like this (freshly cleaned) vintage paddle from your home of Caldera. Just please don't ever ask me how I smuggled it in here...
- Your cellmate"
This note is found in a locker room in Zordaya Prison Complex.
"This shelve will need to be filled with bottles, otherwise it will be too easy to discover the secret lever, and I want to Keep my Fortune."
This note is found on the shelf in the house across the Police Station in Gora Village.
"To the owner of this phone,
How old is this thing? I couldn't track you down since there are no saved numbers/data. Also I don't want to touch it because it seems to be covered in blood... I hope whoever was injured got stitched up. So I'm just leaving it, in case you come back to find it. And I hope you do, I know how it feels to forget my phone at home. It's torture!"
The note is found on a bed in Verdansk Hospital next to a vintage phone and medical supplies.
"Tomorrow is the grand opening of 5th anniversary exhibit and I've been asked to clarify: We are ONLY displaying INOPERABLE equipment. Also note you are NOT ALLOWED to test equipment in case it is, in fact, operable. So you can only use what will not work for displays, not display what you cannot use because it would work. I am happy we've cleared this up.
- Train Station Administration"
The note is found on a crate in the eastern wing of Verdansk Train Station.
Heist[]
Inside the Bank in Downtown Tavorks District, a Biometric Scanner will spawn in a random office. Using the scanner will drop a Hardware Gift Card which can be used in a Buy Station to obtain the Diamond Bit Drill. The drill can be used to breach the vault inside the Bank, this will complete the easter-egg and let the players collect the Cash inside while also rewarding them with XP.
Wine Bottle[]
A shelf can be found inside a house located across the Police Station in Gora Village. The Dragons Cove Vintage 1976 Wine bottle can be found on the shelf, when interacting with it, some cash will drop and the players will be rewarded with XP. The bottle is a reference to Fortune's Keep.
Floating Doors[]
Inside one of the Zordaya Prison cells, an image of 8 doors can be seen, each door has a different circle drawn on it. The coordinates I8 can also be seen on the image. Interacting with the image will play a short chime.
The 8 doors can then be found by the Kastovia Sea, south of the prison. When the players shoot the doors in the order shown on the image, from the smallest circle to the largest, the chime will play again and the doors will fly away. The players will be rewarded with XP while a Supply Crate containing weapons and Killstreaks will drop on the map.
Test Your Luck[]
The Sea Treasures Token can be found on barges on the shore of the Kastovia Sea. Bringing the token to the machine in the gas station in Barakett Promenade East will drop loot, legendary weapons, and will reward players with XP.
Grave[]
The Lost Lion Cub shovel can be found on three locations: around the entrances of the Verdansk Stadium, next to the Red Door in Karst River Quarry, inside the most southern airplane in Verdansk International Airport. Using the shovel below the statue in the graveyard will drop loot and reward players with XP.

Trivia[]
- Verdansk is inspired by the Ukrainian city of Donetsk which was partially destroyed during the War in Donbas. Specifically, the airport is inspired by the Donetsk Airport and the modern-day stadium was inspired by the Donbass Arena. Furthermore, the map was referred to as donetsk, dntsk or don in the Modern Warfare game files.
- Verdansk was known by Operation names on different dates during the infil cinematic:
- During modern-day Verdansk, the map is known as "Operation: Rapid Sunder" and the date is Day 96, 14:11:38.
- During Verdansk '84, the map is known as "Operation: Subversion" and the date is Day 18, 7:15:12.

- Verdansk features several references and easter eggs to the original Modern Warfare trilogy as well as the Black Ops series with the release of Verdansk '84:
- A slightly modified recreation of the Killhouse layout from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare can be found in Arklov Peak Military Base.
- The BCH TV Station, later known as BCH4, is a reference to the TV Station featured in the campaign mission Charlie Don't Surf and multiplayer map Broadcast from Call of Duty 4.
- A slightly modified version of Vacant from Call of Duty 4 can be found within the Port of Verdansk.
- The Obrovnik swimming pool located south of the Storage Town is inspired by the Azure swimming pool in Pripyat, featured in the Call of Duty 4 campaign mission One Shot, One Kill. The pool was redesigned in Verdansk '84 with all the damage fixed.
- Several Burger Town (Бургер Град) restaurants from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can be found throughout Verdansk.
- The map Scrapyard from Modern Warfare 2 can be found within the Zhokov Boneyard.
- The Zordaya Prison Complex featured in the south of Verdansk is based on the Petropavlovsk Gulag featured in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign mission, The Gulag.
- Alongside a new version, several Teddy Bears from Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 can be found throughout Verdansk.
- In modern-day Verdansk, the destroyed plane outside the Verdansk International Airport was a reference to the plane in the campaign mission Mile High Club in Call of Duty 4. The plane was owned by the "NVSFT Airlines", a reference to Neversoft which merged with Infinity Ward in 2014.
- The Control Tower in Summit is a reference to the Soviet base encountered in the Call of Duty: Black Ops campaign mission WMD while the interior of the eastern facility is based on the multiplayer map Summit also from Black Ops.
- A modified recreation of the Standoff map from Call of Duty: Black Ops II can be found in Krovnik Farmland.
- A slightly modified recreation of Shipment can be found on a small soccer pitch north of Tavorsk District. It was added with 80s Action Heroes.

- Several posters and boxes for a Rothwynn's 120GB console called "ACTIBASE" could be found throughout Tavorsk District in modern-day Verdansk. The posters featured a phrase that translated to "This is just the beginning" (Это только начало) with November 25, 2020, as the release date. This was a nod to Activision and the ninth generation of video game consoles with the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in late 2020.
- There are several small areas outside the playable part of Verdansk that appear pixelated on the Tac Map.
- A "S.O.S." sign spelt using plywood sections could be seen on the roof of one of the Torsk Bloc buildings in modern-day Verdansk
- A map of Verdansk and a miniature model of the modern-day stadium could be seen in Pawn Takes Pawn.
- In Warzone 2.0, a purple vial could be found on a bed inside a building Karst River Quarry. The vial was very reminiscent of the Aetherium Vial seen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's Operation Deadbolt[2]. However, the vial was removed following the Season Three Reloaded update on May 1st, 2025.[5]
