The Vlad, also called Harpoon Gun, is a wonder weapon in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, introduced in the Zombies map Rave in the Redwoods. The Vlad itself is an explosive tip crossbow, but it can be upgraded into four more powerful variants.

Overview[]

The Vlad has similar characteristics to the Crossbow seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops; when fired, the arrow will explode after hitting a surface or target, and will then have to be reloaded. Quickies are recommended as a must for using Vlad, as the can help alleviate this reload.

The Vlad's arrows deal very high damage, being able to kill a zombie with a direct hit, and the arrow does not produce any beeping sound or light, unlike the older Crossbow. The Vlad does not have iron sights, but can still be aimed for a more focused shot. The arrow always hits the center of the hipfire reticle. Explosive damage is also very high, being able to kill with one arrow up until the late teen rounds.

Another thing to note is that the Vlad and its upgraded forms have a small delay after being fired before the reload animation begins. This can be removed by pressing the reload button as soon as the arrow is fired.

How to obtain[]

  1. The player will have to find all three parts for the boat and ride the boat over to Turtle Island.
    • In the Mess Hall, leaning on the pole in the center of the room, next to a trash can.
    • In the room where Tuff 'Nuff is located in the cabin, to the right of the bunks when entering the room.
    • In the Recreation Area, leaning again the booth below the camper near the entrance to the Old Marvin Mine.
  2. On Turtle Island, the player has to go into Kevin Smith's cabin and pick up hot dogs in a bucket in the doorway of the cabin's washroom, which can be thrown using the tactical grenade button and replaces any tactical equipment on player. After picking up the hot dogs, the player has to return to the mainland.
  3. Now, the player has to obtain a pouch through killing zombies and throw it into a fire in order to enter Rave Mode. Once in Rave Mode, the player has to throw a hot dog at three deer heads, after which they will float into the air. When they are in the air, the player will have to shoot it and it will produce a symbol that will float to the ground and can be picked up.
    • There is one deer head in the Mess Hall,
    • There is one deer head in the Bear Lodge above the Golf Club
    • There is one deer head in the cabin at the Camper Cabins, on the left of the Transponder challenge station.
  4. After picking up each of the symbols, the locks on the cabinet in the starting cabin can be broken and the Vlad can be picked up, although one has to leave Rave Mode first.

Upgraded Crossbows[]

  • Whirlwind EF-5
  • Trap-O-Matic
  • Acid Rain
  • Ben Franklin

Overview[]

The Whirlwind EF-5 is one of the four upgraded crossbows. When fired it causes a powerful concussive blast of wind, not dissimilar to the Thundergun. The blast is able to kill multiple targets at once, making it highly effective.

How to Obtain[]

  1. The player will need to pick up the wooden deer located randomly around the map, then head over to the rec area to put it on one of the speakers.
  2. The player will need to use a weapon to shoot zombies (not killing them) but damaging them almost to near death. This will cause them to explode in a red mist. After about 10-15 zombies, the wooden deer will be able to be picked up.
  3. ead over to one of two statue locations:
    • On the edge of the dock by Trail Blazers, heading up to the Mess Hall
    • Right beside the gazebo above the lake
  4. Once there, the player must place down the deer. The player must now kill about 20 zombies with the Vlad near the big statues. Killing zombies at any of the two statues will count towards the bow. After enough zombies are killed the deer statue will be interactable. Interact with it to upgrade Vlad to the Whirlwind EF-5.

Overview[]

The Trap-O-Matic is one of four possible upgrades for Vlad. Unlike the other three crossbow upgrades, the Trap-o-Matic is dual wielded, and as the name suggests it spawns traps when shot rather than direct projectiles.

The traps work by creating a node when it hits a solid surface. When any two nodes are close to each other, it will produce a beam between the nodes which will kill any zombie that walks through it. The projectiles are also lethal on direct hits, but only for a single zombie. If nodes are placed on uneven ground they may not connect, so careful placement is advised. When picking up ammo clips, only 1 arrow is added as one bow has a magazine size of 1, despite its akimbo nature.

How to obtain[]

  1. The player must first find a small Eagle statue located around the map. Like the other statues, it shares a random spawn location. After acquiring the statue, the player must head to the recreation area and place the statue by the speakers.
  2. The player must now damage zombies to about 30% of their health and allow them to be "absorbed" by the statue. After enough zombies are damaged, the statue will be completely charged and will be able to be picked up.
  3. After picking up the statue, head over to the Thunderbird Amphitheater, and place the statue next to one of the Eagle statues. The player must now kill about 20 zombies with the Vlad near the big statues. Killing zombies at either of the two statues will count towards the bow. After enough zombies are killed, the statue can now be picked up, and once the player does so, the player's Vlad will be replaced with the upgraded Trap-O-Matic.

Overview[]

The Acid Rain is one of the four upgraded crossbows. When this bow is shot, an initial explosion is produced which kills all zombies in its blast area, following which, acid rain falls from the sky for a short amount of time killing any zombies nearby.

An interesting point to note is that the Acid Rain will always produce headshot damage, which is also useful for earning cash ($100 per kill) as compared to the other bows which count as an explosive kill, only netting $60.

How to obtain[]

  1. The player must first find a small Owl statue located around the map.
  3. After picking up the statue, head over to the Cabins, and place the statue next to one of the Owl statues. The player must now kill about 20 zombies with the Vlad near the big statues. Killing zombies at either of the two statues will count towards the bow. After enough zombies are killed, the statue can now be picked up, and once the player does so, the player's Vlad will be replaced with the upgraded Acid Rain.

Overview[]

The Ben Franklin is one of the four upgraded crossbows. Whenever this bow is shot lightning will come down and kill zombies in a short area around the blast. Direct hits with the Ben Franklin will also damage or kill their target before generating the storm.

How to obtain[]

  1. The player must first find a small Wolf statue located around the map.
  3. After picking up the statue, head over to the Cabins, and place the statue next to one of the Wolf statues. The player must now kill about 20 zombies with the Vlad near the big statues. Killing zombies at any of the Wolf statues will count towards the bow. After enough zombies are killed, the statue can now be picked up, and once the player does so, the player's Vlad will be replaced with the upgraded Ben Franklin.
