War Mode is a multiplayer game mode in Call of Duty: WWII and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. During the mode, an attacking team must complete strategic objectives while the other team defends said objectives. After a round is over, teams will switch, giving both sides a chance to attack and defend. The mode was also planned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 before being scrapped.

At launch, three War Mode experiences were available, with four more being added throughout the DLC season.

Operation Breakout Operation Breakout Loading Screen WWII Furious battle across a war-torn French village. Features multiple high-intensity combat scenarios involving short and medium range gameplay.
Operation Neptune Operation Neptune Loading Screen WWII Invade or defend Omaha Beach on D-Day.
Operation Griffin Operation Griffin Loading Screen WWII Launch the counter-offensive! This map features 3 fast-paced combat scenarios with short and medium range gameplay.
Operation Intercept OperationIntercept Promo WWII Fight to free the French resistance leaders and stop a train loaded with munitions and supplies bound for the front-lines. Included in The Resistance DLC.
Operation Husky Operation Husky reveal image Invade German-occupied Sicily to steal key intelligence for aerial support. Defeat enemy squardrons to allow Allied forces to reach their targets. Included in The War Machine DLC.
Operation Supercharge Operation Supercharge Trailer Promo WWII Airdrop into enemy controlled Tunisia and secure the Mareth Line to take back Africa. Included in the United Front DLC.
Operation Arcane OperationArcane ShadowWarTrailer WWII Infiltrate a secret German weapons and technology manufacturing facility deep in the forests of Austria to steel and destroy secret technology. Included in the Shadow War DLC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4[]

War Mode was planned to return in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and was scrapped during development. Several maps were created, with each having their own objectives.

Name Image Description
Tekezé Set within Ethiopia. Nothing else is known.
Valencia Set within a Village in Spain. Attackers needed to capture an area before collecting batteries to power a Quad Tank, before escorting it into enemy territory.
Shipbreakers Black Ops 4 Shipbreakers Concept Art Set within a ship disassembly area in Colombia. Attackers needed to blow open a sea wall and then escort a robot to clear the path to a large ship with a capture zone.
Glacier Dam Set within a Glacier Dam in Spain. Attackers needed to capture an area before escorting a robot into enemy territory, then blowing up a crane with C4.

War Mode returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. At launch, a single War Mode experience was available, with more being added throughout the Seasons updates.

Operation Spearhead Operation Spearhead Promo MWIII Set within the Orlov Military Base. Clear anti-aircraft defenses so armored vehicles can be airdropped, staying close to the armor to break through to the launch site and set up missile overrides.
