Weapon Inspection is a feature present in several Call of Duty games. This feature allows the player to inspect the current weapon, offering a better view of the variant, camouflage and current modifications to the weapon. It is not available for some weapons, and it cannot be used entirely in some gamemodes. During the animation, the player can still fire, reload or aim the weapon to prematurely cancel the inspection.
The feature was available by default in some of the games, namely Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Call of Duty: WWII, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (only in Multiplayer), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Other games such as Call of Duty Online saw the feature added through updates. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, weapon inspection was added in August 2020 with Modern Warfare Season Five. In Call of Duty: Mobile, the feature was added in November 2021 as part of Season 10: Shadows Return.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops III, weapon inspection was added in December 2015, and is restricted to melee weapons.
In Call of Duty: Vanguard, the inspection initially was restricted to high-rarity weapon blueprints such as Ultra and Heroic, when the feature was added with Season Two. It then became available to all Assault Rifles and Handguns in May 2022 with Season Three Reloaded and to the remaining weapon categories in June 2022 with Season Four.
In Modern Warfare II, when inspecting a weapon that does not have any ammunition available, the animation is different in most cases, and sometimes involves rapidly racking the charging handle or slide a few times. This feature was added with the release of Season One. Empty weapon inspection is also present in Modern Warfare III (only on a few of the new weapons) and in Black Ops 6.

Trivia[]
- The weapon inspection in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Mobile is part of the Emotes wheel. In Black Ops Cold War, it is called "Flourish Weapon".
- When the feature was introduced in Call of Duty: Mobile, it was possible to inspect Operator Skills, revealing that weapons like the Annihilator lacked a right side. Some weapons, like the Tempest, would instead have glitched geometry when inspecting. This was later patched, and thus Operator Skills can no longer be inspected.
