The subject of this article appears in Call of Duty: Ghosts

Whiteout is a large multiplayer map that is featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Whiteout is set in an abandoned fishing outpost in Alaska that's under threat of ODIN satellite fall.

Overview

The map has plenty of close-medium range action. The caves around the map all are great for close range, as is the inside of buildings and the trench closer to the Federation spawn point. The center of the map is best for medium-long range weapons like assault riflesmarksman rifles and light machine guns. The partially sunken ship near the ocean is a good spot for sniping. It is a bad idea to stay near the area with dead trees as this is where the Satellite Crash Field Order reward crashes down at.

Dynamics

  • This map has a special Field Order reward called "Satellite Crash"; a satellite comes down burning in the sky and crashes at the northwest edge of the map, destroying some trees and making a small impact crater. The minimap becomes disabled and the HUD translucent, much like an EMP, though only for anyone who goes near the crash site. The crashed satelitte will act like the single SAT COM for the rest of the game. If it is not obtained by the end of the match, it comes crashing down anyway during the post-match score board.
  • Beside the Federation spawn there is a helicopter with it's rotor blades spinning. The blades will instantly kill the player if jumped into.

Trivia

  • This map was one of three featured in the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer reveal.
  • At the southwest edges of the map, what looks like light-blue ice is actually water. Anyone or anything that drops in it will instantly die or be lost.
