Wiretap is an Awareness perk introduced in Call of Duty: Ghosts. It allows the player to use enemy SAT COMs as if they were on the friendly team. The SAT COMs will stack up with each other as long as the player's team already have a friendly SAT COM on the ground; if the player's team has only one SAT COM, but the enemy has three, the player using this perk will gain the "Advanced UAV" effect from all four SAT COMs. It will work in Hardcore as long as there is at least one SAT COM anywhere on the ground. It costs nine squad points to buy.
As the SAT COM is unpopular in most game modes, Wiretap's popularity is, by extension, very low in most game modes. However, Wiretap is at its best in Hardcore game types and Free-for-All. The SAT COM has enhanced importance in these two game modes, as one SAT COM is needed to raise the mini-map for Hardcore game types, and in Free-for-All, only one SAT COM is needed in order for the player to be able to receive a radar sweep. In those game types, SAT COMs are much more widely used due to their increased power, and thus, Wiretap is much more useful in those game types, especially if the player runs a SAT COM only pointstreak setup, allowing the player to earn multiple SAT COMS of their own over the course of a single match, maybe even a single life.
