"Fully automatic with high power. Effective at medium to long range."
— In-game description

The XM-LAR is a fully-automatic assault rifle featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. It was added via an update on February 7th, 2017.

When unlocking camouflages for the weapon, the XM-LAR features similar values to that of shotguns, requiring 25, 50 and 100 headshots/kills to earn the camouflage as opposed to the regular 25, 75 and 150 headshots/kills respectively.

The XM-LAR compares very similarly to the AK-47. Like the AK-47, it deals 40-30 damage per shot, killing in 3-4 shots depending on the distance. Stopping Power decreases bullets required to kill to 2-3 shots. The XM-LAR fires at a slow rate, being slightly slower than that of the AK-47. Like the AK-47, the XM-LAR's minimum damage is also decreased to 20 if equipped with a Silencer.

The XM-LAR's recoil tends more vertical and less side-to-side than the AK-47. Unlike the AK-47, it can equip the Red Dot Sight with no penalty. The combination of the penalty-free red dot sight, more predictable recoil pattern, and slower rate of fire make the XM-LAR arguably more effective at a distance than the AK-47; however, its lower rate of fire means that it doesn't compete as well at close range.
